Re: FreeCAD Logo Design

I'm still in love with one of my old logo ideas, I can't find a one that fits better... Anyway, I have tweaked it a little bit so that it can better describe CAD paradigm: a design that is somehow an evolution of the actual design so that it is more of a modernization than a brand new logo used tech...

I can already imagine someone with coding knowledge developing an addon to simulate the passage of the sun for architectural models.
That could be really easy to implement and so cool for BIM designers!

Re: shadows in the freecad viewport

Can you guys try the spot light with 'DropOffRate' and 'CutOffAngle' settings? Any effect? I managed to make them work on my computer but requires yet another patch to Coin3D. It seems to be crippled by some graphics driver bug in updating shader predefined variables. Not sure if it is specific to ...

Re: shadows in the freecad viewport

Well, just think of the ground as a normal face of any other object. When you change the camera position, the shading of the face changes. When the ground shade is lightened, so is the shadow on it. The reason you see the shadow 'disappear' when you have a transparent ground is because I clamped th...

Re: shadows in the freecad viewport

I have just found another lighting issue: depending on the camera point of view, not only the ground surface is shadowed differently, but the shadow itself too: 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg From a top view the shadow even dissapears... I think I have a new clue about this issue: the shadow is behaving as a no...

Re: shadows in the freecad viewport

Oh yeah!! Working like a charm, really cool build, congrats! More Santa Claus wishes: option to tweak the bump height (intensity) "ground auto position" to FC preferences... maybe all ground and shadow parameter fit into FC preferences as they are something that the user would like the same in all h...

Re: shadows in the freecad viewport

Image updated. They are released without my Coin3D patch. Can you guys please try the new ground texture and bump map (see the document property), and report back if it is working? I am not sure the problem I have is because of my graphics driver or not. I got my texture and bump map (height or nor...

Re: shadows in the freecad viewport

You can change the ground color to match the background, or increase the ground scale so that the edge won't show easily when you zoom out. I have already tried it but depending on the position of the camera the ground turns darker or brighter... Increasing the ground scale reduces the ground edges...

Re: shadows in the freecad viewport

Very cool @realthunder!

Would it be possible to cast a shadow with a transparent ground? I mean, a way to only show the shadow but let it "blend" with the 3D view background (color or gradient)

Thanks
