Portable packages for Windows

Following this tweet , it would be great if we could have PortableApps , or Portapps , or Zero Install packages. A great portion of potential FreeCAD users doesn't admin privileges on their Windows machines. Delivering the software via the above package managers would significantly improve your targ...

Re: Gitter & IRC mirrored!

Hey Guys,

I can host a small Raspberry Pi server at home so we can bridge the Github repository, this phpBB forum, Gitters, and the IRC channel to the FreeCAD Discord channel. I can also give the moderation of that channel to any of the core developers.

Re: Nastran

Hello everyone, Yesterday I Tweeted about the NASA's NASTRAN code releases, and also posted here on Reddit . Out of the blue, the pyNASTRAN and MYSTRAN developers showed up at Elmer's Discord server . Now we have a #nastran channel dedicated to NASTRAN ( permanent link ). We also have some FreeCAD f...

Re: [bug/feature request] reasonable behavior for placement of Part Design clones

You cannot change the object itself, but isn't that what cloning is all about? Well not always. There are cases where you want a base model and some small variants. You can use such a clone in further Part operations such as cut or union like any other Part object as well. So the Draft clones are "...

Re: [bug/feature request] reasonable behavior for placement of Part Design clones

As an update to this issue, Although the Draft Workbench's clone doesn't suffer the placement issue of the Part Design Workbench, one caveat should be that the clones are not editable in Part WorkBench anymore. 😩

Re: Why FreeCAD has two versions 0.18.3 and 0.18.16131 for the same release?

This is an issue with repology's algorithm. To tweak it you need submit a PR to https://github.com/repology/repology-rules per https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/releases/tag/0.18.3 0.18.3 is r16131 repology just parses what is already in the repository's database. It would be probably true if you ...

Why FreeCAD has two versions 0.18.3 and 0.18.16131 for the same release?

I was looking at the Repology search results for FreeCAD when I realized that it considers the Chocolatey package 0.18.16131 as outdated. While Scoop and Just-install offer a higher version of 0.18.3. But then from this page , I realized these two are actually the same release. Is there any reason w...

How to embed an external media into the wiki?

I want to add some of the Repology badges to the FreeCAD Wiki, but I can't. As this page explains, apparently the $wgAllowExternalImages needs to be enabled. I have no idea what it is and how it works. I would appreciate it if you could help me know. P.S. I know I have to upload images here but then...
