Re: Reference external construction geometry?

According its location jmaustpc is probably at bed now. Yes, I was. It's early Sunday afternoon here now, and it's winter. :) I had a nice sleep in, my children cooked me a fancy breakfast in bed, but then I had to go out in the cold, fix the goats' water supply which had decided to leak, feed the ...

Re: Reference external construction geometry?

Yet another way to get a similar result is to use an Expression, if you name a constraint in the first sketch then you can reference that via an expression in the constraint in the second sketch. This is perhaps a better workflow or at least a far more powerful and flexible approach. It allows you t...

Yes, self-compiled.
Thanks, I think that will do it. Will try again.
Next time say that in the first place and don't leave us guessing.

Re: Where is the AddOn Manager now? Not in tools anymore...

I was pointing it more as a place where to report such problems since he is actively modifying things and showing them there so if there are problems it looks like the proper place to address them. No, please don't. that is the Announcements forum, its supposed to be only for announcements of new f...

Re: Black screen - I can't run any project

Qt version: 5.6.2 You must be compiling against the old lib pack. Sgrogan in the last post of the topic you linked to is the one who compiled the Windows builds. He link to the downloads page for 0.19, one of the files "FreeCADLibs_12.1.2_x64_VC15.7z" is a newer lib pack. It uses QT5.12.1 and was c...

Re: Splitting Stp File

When imported into freeCAD the step file shows as one part 'ASSEMBLY' and two bodies 'SimpleBody' and 'LeadsArray' No it doesn't. The pins are all separate solids. Please always post your FreeCAD version data in the manner explained in the forum rules link above this forum. I suspect either your Fr...

Re: FreeCAD crash when import IFC file

FreeCAD thought for a while, so I thought it was importing but then I got the following IfcOpenShell was not found on this system. IFC support is disabled because I had not installed ifcOpenShell..... If I want to be the most useful to you for testing, which IFCOpenShell should I install from...

Perhaps meme2704 was thinking about the Sketcher point, which indeed cannot be used for such a loft, as it is only construction geometry.
Right, so what is the right method?
read the wiki, its all explained there and is too complex to just endlessly repeat on the forum.

Re: How to do something ( anything ) with an SVG path

I can't manage to do anything with it : neither use engrave path tool on the path directly, nor make a pocket or pad which I could then work with. All the appropriate Draft and Part WB tools and Sketcher work with it perfectly as expected. E.G. Part Extrude, Loft, 3d Offset, Check Geometry, Draft d...

Re: Arbitrary cone

When the "vertex" is zoomed out, the (draft) point continues being a point but this is not the case for the small circle. Yes, they are different geometry. However in the real world you would not have a genuine point in most cases, since that would mean that the tip is infinitely small, at a practi...
