Re: [SOLVED] IFC File imports wrong geometries for Steel Frame elements

Unfortunately it's too late for it to get in to Debian 10 so there'll be a bit of a pause before I get back to working on it. That sucks!, It would have been so nice to have it in Debian 10. @yorik So that means that I will have to compile IfcpenShell... I will follow these Instructions Correct? Th...

Re: [SOLVED] IFC File imports wrong geometries for Steel Frame elements

@yorik I downloaded and installed the IfcOpenShell-python as described Here but when importing IFC from freecad this happens: 1.- It imports partially with a bunch of errors on the report view, and objects have weird names (see picture) 2.- it freezes there forever and the importation progress bar d...

Re: IFC File imports wrong geometries for Steel Frame elements

Thank you so much Yorik, changing that seems to have worked I don't have the IFC import working in FreeCAD so I used IFCConvert to change the IFC into obj, when trying to import if Y choose mesh It imports meshes but not solids, If I choose Obj (Arch) it does not import, So I had to convert it to IG...

Re: IFC File imports wrong geometries for Steel Frame elements

@yorik thanks a lot for taking the time to check the model. this is the difference in geometry I find between an Autodesk viewer and the IFCOpensshell converted file. This happens on all the studs and tracks from the file. Can you confirm? Also what should be the typical workflow to import IFC into ...

[SOLVED] IFC File imports wrong geometries for Steel Frame elements

Hello I am trying to import a file created in Revit, I asked the creator to export me a IFC file and used IFCOpenShell IFCConvert to convert it to OBJ and import in freecad. Tried STEP and the process took forever and crashed. Now it imported correctly but all the steel studs and tracks are missing ...

Re: [Solved] Importing DXF file Crashes FreeCAD 0.18 but goes fine on 0.16

Interesting, I compile FreeCAD maybe 2 or 3 tiemes a week, just to stay up to date.

I couldn't find libocct, I guess the package is not on Stretch, but then what is the package name under stretch and how can I compile with a newer occ?

Re: Importing DXF file Crashes FreeCAD 0.18 but goes fine on 0.16

No crash here with the native C++ importer. BTW your version uses an extremely obsolete version of OCC. Might not be related with the crash though, just saying. OCC 6.8.0 was released in Nov. 2014! I guess this is because I am using Debian maybe? How can I update my OCC, what would be the package n...

Are you using the native C++ DXF importer, or the legacy python importer?
Yes I was using the Legacy importer, I just clicked it off and it imports fine!!!

Thanks for the tip. I didn't even know there was a legacy python and a native c++.
