You first need to set the option for 3d printed mode. (in preferences after you select fastener workbench)
And then, yes, the rod with be wider by several percent, so there will be enough gap to avoid friction.

Using this workbench the only way to make inner threads is to use the inner thread tool. This tool generates an arbitrary length threaded rod which you then place on the location you want to set an inner thread, then use boolean subtraction to create the inner thread. innerth.png B.T.W this rod is s...

I have managed to 3d print workable threads using standard FDM printer.
The fasteners workbench have a setting that generate threads compatible with 3d printers.

Default values:
Screw Scale
A: 0.990
B: -0.050

Nut Scale
A: 1.030
B: 0.100

However different printers / different print settings, might need to adjust these values by trial and error. There is no shortcut...

Frank, Thank you for the kind words, but the big thanks are for Ulrich1a - he made the screws, I just organized it in a workbench. The screw-tap profile is made specially for inner threads, it can not be used as an outside thread (the profile is different - the ends are rounded rather then flat) So ...
