Sheetmetal already supports material definition sheet (from spreadsheet).
How is this different?

Also, there is a work now on SheetMetal UI, one of the things is having a container for sheetmetal parts, and this container will have all the material definitions. So your work might collide with it.

CSV files are not enough. Some python coding is also required.
