Re: Elmer electrostatics FEM

Yep mesh is exported in mm independent from unit system. BTW calculix writer does not use unit system at all. Uses mm based in any case. It is not difficult to adapt all Elmer and ccx writer to the unitsystem, but takes time to test and implement. If it really is the mesh only in Elmer it should be...

Re: Elmer electrostatics FEM

[... the unit of L should adopt for the selected units-system like mm should become m im m/kg/s is selected. UNITS = { "L": "mm", "M": "kg", "T": "s", "I": "A", "O": "K", "N": "mol", "J": "cd", } If there is really no other place to change this units than we should go for it! I tested that ...

Re: Elmer electrostatics FEM

https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=41488&start=10#p368353 somehow the file has some problems. Might be due to the regressions we had at the time of creating the file. Mainly the material object. Would you repost the file. Would it be possible to post the original sif file and the sif...

Re: 2d Axisymertic

I havn`t seen any axisymmetric models in FC yet. E.g. Elmer is able to perform axisymmetric simulations... please search in the following tutorials for 'axisymmetric': https://www.nic.funet.fi/index/elmer/doc/ElmerModelsManual.pdf https://www.nic.funet.fi/index/elmer/doc/ElmerTutorials_nonGUI.pdf If...

Re: Elmer electrostatics FEM

Hi, If you need just to scale from mm to m then this works for in the sif file of Elmer: Simulation ... Coordinate Scaling = 0.001 Thanks, I know. If I scale it in FC than the dimensions and the conditions like forces match the tutorial. I hope it is easier to understand this way. I will keep it in...

Re: GSoC2020, FEM: extend examples

Dear Sudhanshu, Can you please have a look at the following example/ tutorial for the use of Elmer from inside FreeCAD: https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=41488&p=404238#p404231 Beside the imported mesh which was transferred to a solid and was also used for the original Elmer tutorial...

Re: Elmer electrostatics FEM

You might even need to remember me on this ... one again  Reminding..... Would you have a look at this? But it is not finished yet. The writer does not yet work. https://github.com/berndhahnebach/FreeCAD_bhb/commits/fempermittivity The idea is to add a object if one would like to ch...

Re: Elmer electrostatics FEM

The updated model for 'Tutorial 6 - Electrostatics' of the nonGUI examples (https://www.nic.funet.fi/index/elmer/do ... nonGUI.pdf, starting at page 28). The results from within FC using Elmer do match with the results listed in the documentation/tutorial for Elmer. One has to scale the model (I use...

This can be closed with the new checkbox in the dimensioning popup. HoWil do you mind double checking this? I have some remarks in the regard of new FC users.... Why volume mesh? This is a shell.
:D because I am curious if I/we can use it for meshing volumes
