Re: What controls the color of objects in a IFC?
Thanks. I will try freecad and what new allplan release will do. We use models when things get complicated. It is a new medium to get control and a grip on interfaces. Its not a choice between drawings OR models. Both are used. We still use paper too

Re: What controls the color of objects in a IFC?
Yes there are good reason to have rigid colors. Because they can have meaning. Lets say i'm electrician am I'm looking at some model of a installation. Wouldn't it be neccessary to have electrical wires red, brown, blue have fixed states? If we want 3d models to be used in concrete construction it n...

Re: What controls the color of objects in a IFC?
It would be great if colors of rebar ifc objects stay rigid for ALL ifc capable software. In fact, it is a must if you want to leave drawings at your desk. How is going to be tackled?

Import step export ifc

Freecad has the potential to be a great help for ifc translation. But this geometry malfunction has to be corrected imo. See att. Kind regards H...

What controls the color of objects in a IFC?
Hi there, I want to drop this question about the right handling of colors here. As a last statement of one member here.. "The IFC standard is very ambiguous when it comes to colors. The color of objects can come from many places in the IFC hierarchy." It sounds like a recipe trouble in BIM...

Re: IFC import: hangs at 'shapes'
Wonderful. That worked out!! like it.. One small question.. working with various other 3D CAD tools, i wonder if is possible to adjust the 3D orbit mode. I miss it in 'CAD navigation style' and the Blender style will not work very well together with me working in other programms. Would be very welco...

Re: IFC import: hangs at 'shapes'
Ok thx. The original IFC is an export of Revit from an other party. I imported this in Revit without problems, in FreeCAD the complete model stalls. So I isolated the sheetpiling and exported this from Revit. This can be imported in FreeCAD, so i think the problem is something else. I am watching th...
