Re: Embedding KTextEditor in FreeCAD

This is very, very cool! the possibilities to extend are huge... My 2 cents: 1) dependency is not really a problem, FreeCAD depends already on pretty heavyweight stuff, this is small and widely and easily available. 2) an external workbench/module coded in C++ would be a hell to maintain (you need t...

Re: Arch Profiles and national standards

If your profiles are C, H, I or O/Rectangle, you can simply add to https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/blob/master/src/Mod/Arch/Presets/profiles.csv If you want to create different kinds of profiles, then you must also first edit https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/blob/master/src/Mod/Arch/ArchProfile...

Re: [ Bug ] Draft_SetStyle failed: no attribute 'dimButton'

Everything seems to work OK here... Do you compile FreeCAD yourself? You might need to touch Draft.qrc , that happens sometimes, an .ui file gets changed, but since the .qrc file didn't change, cmake doesn't recompile it

Re: BIM - IfcOpenShell importer problems

It is also my philosophy to be tolerant with bad IFC files... Of course Autodesk issuing poor files is really shameful and we have definitely no interest in being tolerant with Autodesk, but I can very well imagine another app that is not well versed in IFC that didn't interpret correctly the specs,...

Re: Google Summer of Code 2021 - Call for ideas

GSOC 2021 sum-up Shiv's project (working further on the reinforcement workbench) - https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=57698 is the only FreeCAD GSOC project we have this year. Note that all other projects have also seen their number of projects drastically reduced this year, and t...

Re: GSoC Proposal: Automate Reinforcement Process of Slab and Footing in FreeCAD

Congratulations Shiv! Your proposal was really impressive and very well prepared. I had marked myself as willing to mentor this project together with Amritpal. Apparently the google policy now enforces strict 1 to 1 mentor/student, so I have been removed from mentoring this project officially (I wil...

Feature page on the FreeCAD homepage

I created a new static features page for the homepage, have a look! Screenshot from 2021-05-04 13-52-28.png Also did minor style fixes. Any other suggestion, feel free to PR! Need a new image for the file formats paragraph too. I think we should still change the cog on the homepage to something more...

Re: Version Control Support in FreeCAD

I also see 2 problems here: 1) It's hard to see a real, meaningful difference between two files. ie: WHAT has changed between version 31 and version 32? 2) FreeCAD files are treated by almost all VS systems as fat binary files, meaning the repo size inflates quickly over time. Most VS systems especi...
