Shrink/grow as in a photo editor
Hi all, I'm looking for some advice or discussion. A feature I have been looking for occationally is a "shrink" and "grow" function on objects. With grow, all vertices would move outward by a certain distance. This is not the same as scale, where the whole object simply gets larg...

Re: Stable freecad won't start. Daily works.
@chennes, I think you have built the last release? Is it time to build a 0.21.2 or even a (unintended) 0.22? Or both? I am sure 0.22 will take a while to release, even if you decide to start the release process. Can someone explain, or point me at an explanation of what exactly goes wrong with the ...

Re: Stable freecad won't start. Daily works.
I ran into the same problem. And 0.22 works? Yes. 0.22.0dev works. But of course there I had to rely on the stability of the daily dev status. For instance today I couldn't seem to create a construction (blue) line in a sketch. So for daily work I rather not use the daily version:-) That said, I wa...

Re: Stable freecad won't start. Daily works.
I ran into the same problem.. After the upgrade of ubuntu to 23.10 the freecad 0.21.0 and 0.21.1 AppImages don't work anymore. They start, I get the initial window, but after that there is no interaction possible. e.g. starting a new project does nothing. In the terminal I have the below error. libG...

Re: Problem Exporting object created with boolean
Hi Chris, I know now how to deal with it. So for me it is not a problem. But I would argue that _at least_ it is a usability interface bug. I have always selected the part that I want to export in the 3D view. It lights up green and then you can export. So this behavior is quite confusing, esp to ne...

Problem Exporting object created with boolean
Hello all, It is great to see freecad made another great step. I have version 0.20 installed now and it looks beautiful! Thanks to everyone involved creating this. I stumbled on something strange (and I don't think this is specific for v0.20, but I didn't take the trouble testing it with 0.19) I hav...

rotate datum plane around edge
Hi all, I am puzzling over a new object I am creating. I want to add a datum plane under and angle to the backplane of my object. But the datumplane should intersect with the left edge of the backplane. (I hope this is a clear enough problem description.) I can create a datum plane with the backplan...

Re: Thoughts On FreeCAD?
Hi, I would advice to check some of the tutorials to get familiar with the basic workflow, partDesign, sketches, contraints etc. Then just dive in and learn along the way. Always remember that it is open source and build by great people in their spare time. It is not as polished as the professional ...

Re: Freecad 0.19 daily crash on fillet
Because Ubuntu :) Sorry but there were multiple times where an OCCT crash will crash the whole FreeCAD under Linux and at the same time Windows version handles that without an app crash. Maybe it is handled on per case basis and checks are added when and where it happens? Thx for the clarification....
