Re: Open Source CAD exchange format
The CSG format is the kind of history. We can import it as history-based to SolveSpace or FreeCAD, we can create script for it inside OpenSCAD, we can create building tree inside Antimony. And the one more point: I downloaded Rupert Rawnsley's OpenSCAD Horizontal Spool Holder from Thingiverse and pr...

Re: Open Source CAD exchange format
STEP, IGES, and so on are good. But it is proprietary-licensed things. This is designed not for features, supported in FreeCAD, SolveSpace, Antimony, OpenSCAD and so on. This is designed for what can "they" support, not "us". We can't support "their" features if even re...

Re: Open Source CAD exchange format
@ickby,
Yes, I know about this kind of problem - about features like fillets or other. But we could think about it. It's good point if we just can exchange even basic bodies through all the FOSS CADs (even sketches exchange is more than nothing).

Open Source CAD exchange format
We are working hard on SolveSpace. SolveSpace use Mesh/NURBS for geometry, but has history-based approaches. FreeCAD is working on NURBS and has history-based approaches. There is also OpenSCAD which uses pixel operations for booleans as fast visualization, and CGAL as boolean operations for generat...
