Re: Feature Request: Z / Depth parameter for ViewObjects

I think this is not so easy to do. You would not want to give the geometry a real z offset, as this could lead to all kind of trouble with accuracy later on. So one would need to manipulate the visuals only. In coin there is a node for that: https://grey.colorado.edu/coin3d/classSoPolygonOffset.html...

Re: Development in Expression and Spreadsheet

Hello, I like the more advanced functionality, and that it looks like python is awesome! The patched bison, is this mandatory or does it work with the default one? Because that sounds like big trouble for maintenance in my ears. About the possibility to use python modules: do you think this is neces...

Re: Native PartDesign Common feature

I think back than when I did port many tools for the new part design it felt natural to think in terms of adding and subtracting, it just was super fitting for the whole workflow. Later I thought about common operation and that there are some useful things you can do if all part design features exis...

Re: FEM Workbench Testing - GSoC Proposal

In the mentioned test helper functions, do you plan to implement some kind of viewscreen comparison? As FEM is to a big part looking at meshes and result plots it would be helpful to enable tests to check if the on screen view is correct (also as this allows postprocessor tests)? Maybe some kind of ...

Re: Can a Part Object be a group.

I did not read the full thread in all details, but here is a working example. Note that you also need to install the extension on the viewprovider, as otherwise the UI and tree would not behave as a group, even though the object is a group: class MyExtension(): def __init__(self, obj): obj.addExtens...

Re: COIL iconTheme

I'm just following along the work done here, great work! one remark: Besides the fact that it diverges from the actual use (users usually work in one preferred color scheme, which is selected once), FreeCAD backgrounds are limited with only 2 hoar colors by default to switch between. So, maybe, outl...

Re: name FreeCAD 0.91 instead of 0.20, means version after 0.19 could be 0.91

I really do not understand why the FreeCAD developers wanted to reinvent the wheel You need to think 15 years or more back, when freecad started. From what I hear as reasoning is that occ visualization was extremely limited back than. And OCC being easier may be true for occ topological shapes, but...
