Re: type of element

You need some deeper understanding of the freecad datastructures used. I recommend Part_Module Part_scripting and Topological_data_scripting

Re: GSoC 2020: A better IPython and Jupyter Notebook Integration for FreeCAD

I did not follow the whole discuccion yet, but IMHO we need to work with the coin3d scene graph. Lots of stuff is build in coin only (FEM, Path etc) and it's important for the usability to capture that (and also to not to die during re-implementing everything). So we need to look into how to access ...

Re: FEM in FreeCAD with Elmer - Postprocessing

I do not have time to work on this, unfortunately, however, I'm always happy to support someone who decides to tackle this, either the python stuff or just adding more filters in c++

Re: FEM in FreeCAD with Elmer - Postprocessing

Is it possible to complement these vtk tools of yours with one that enables vector or streamline visualization inside the domain? That way the FreeCAD single environment would work for both mechanical and fluid/electro simulations completely. Yes of course. Everything paraview does is based on VTK ...

Re: FEM in FreeCAD with Elmer - Postprocessing

I developed the vtk postprocessing in freecad mostly as some kind of basic feature set to stay in the flow. The following things have been important for me: - easy access by staying in the same environment an workflow - same viewport: result and model should be visible together I do not like the Sal...

Re: 0.19pre, FEM fail to startup

I have the same problem, and cannot use FEM in 0.19 due to the startup-error. Does anyone have an idea howto fix this?

0.19: Question about "Touched" status in Label property

Hello, a behavior I notices while porting some code with the Label property, and it's touched state, seems rather strange. If one creates a simple object with the following code: obj = App.ActiveDocument.addObject("App::DocumentObject") The label property will be in touched state. The document objec...

Anyway, like I said in my previous post, object ID is not meant for direct referencing. I wouldn't worry too much about it when copy and paste.
Ok, I think I go with just ignoring it and see if some problem comes up.

Re: 0.19: Why is there a ID in document object?

The same argument can be applied to Name, as the user may reference the object using a PropertyString. No, a name can be recreated in the new doc, hence every Name stored in PropertyString stays valid. ID cannot be recreated. At least for my use case this is a difference. How about copying the obje...
