Fewer tools are better as long a it's clear to the user. Go for it.

recovering old files

I designed this bracket for triggering a can of silly-string (or anything else). I haven't touched the files since 2011 but I need to revise it. When I load it, the file loads without error and the dependency graph looks fine but the tree is empty and there's nothing in the 3D window. Is there any w...

Using an hdmi monitor and USB keyboard is very usable.
Thx, - do you remember the max jitter you have had and the max possible step frequency?
Sorry, I don't. It's been a couple years since I used that particular configuration

@sliptonic:
Did you try LinuxCNC at a BB or a RPI ? I'm reading some articles about, but often that it's very slow.
I used machinekit on a beaglebone black. Using the ui over a ssh tunnel is really slow but usable. Using an hdmi monitor and USB keyboard is very usable.

Re: LinuxCNC question

I have a quick question - it appears that LinuxCNC requires a linux installation with the the real-time options to operate. Is this correct? How much horsepower would be required of the machine? Your question is probably better answered on the LinuxCNC community but I'll take a shot at it. There ar...

Re: Adaptive Path/CAM Operation

If someone knows a decent python implementation of arc fitting alg. that would as input take a list of points/line segments + tolerance setting and as output produce the list of arcs, it would be relatively easy to include it into adaptive if all that done in python code (no need to change the inte...

Re: Coolant Management

I need to add coolant management to path. What is the best approach? 1. Add coolant to the tool controllers 2. Add coolant options to jobs Is it possible that you'd have two operations using the same TC but only using coolant with one? In that case, coolant should be a property of the operations.

Re: Tool Editor / Tool Table

IMHO, a tool number should be unique within a set but I like the idea of being able to set up multiple tool tables to represent groups of tools. Having multiple tools with the same number seems like a trouble. I'm aware of at least one type of machine that uses tool numbers like T2-3 or T1-6. The fi...
