Re: looking for developers for extending FreeCAD - freelance/contract

Hi, it is nice to hear that there would be interest. Unfortunately the company who was interested in this, put it to a long halt, other topics got higher priority. If they come back to this, hopefully that time with more serious commitment, we can revive the topic or start a new one.

Re: extending FreeCad to use in construction for metal structures

Hi, it's been a while since the last information, I am posting a status update. Unfortunately the designing of the requirements/features is going really slowly. The cause is that the company who needs the software is busy in other areas, and they don't allocate much time for the design. There is no ...

Re: looking for developers for extending FreeCAD - freelance/contract

Hello, it is nice to see that our project generated interest in the forum, it looks like we have good chance to put together a good team. This post can serve as an answer for julianfoad and CADeal, and as a status update. We have some delay in the software definition, the feedback is coming slower f...

Re: extending FreeCad to use in construction for metal structures

Thanks the reply. These structures are looking good. We will need something fairly similar, roof structures, with the panels or glass and other accessories included.

I will look at the bolts, and the axis system.

The FEM calculation is not a requirement now. But theoretically it can come later.

Re: extending FreeCad to use in construction for metal structures

Hi, thank you for the help. The dome macro is quite nice, it is actually in some ways similar to what we need, but we have many different structures. That's why several more general tools will be needed, and a way to assemble them. So with the compound - create simple copy, and selection disable at ...

Re: extending FreeCad to use in construction for metal structures

I have now the latest versions from git of Freecad, Opencascade and IfcOpenShell. I see that the IFC handling improved, it is at least partially loading files which did not start before. I think this part will be ok, it has to be handled when we will have the actual files and know what exactly has t...

Re: extending FreeCad to use in construction for metal structures

Thanks the answers, the situation is getting clearer. I will install/build now the 0.16 development version and the Assembly 2 workbench, to see the difference. I will check how big a model can I build using the recommendations above, and the improvement of the IFC handling (the model size is more i...
