Re: Freecad-9999 ( Gentoo) crashes on Wayland ( Sway)

If i recompiled the dependencies with the video_cards use flag unset (its currently "amdgpu radeonsi"), and/or recompiled the kernel without the amdgpu driver, would that be helpful at all? by the way, this is the output I get when I click on the Schenkel.stp example file. I'm not sure if this is th...

Re: Freecad-9999 ( Gentoo) crashes on Wayland ( Sway)

My hardware is a laptop with an amd ryzen mobile 2700u... I'm using the amdgpu driver. Perhaps Brane212 has different hardware?
not sure if I'll be able to find the time to install gentoo on a different machine at the moment :D

is there an easy way to grip edit multiple line/wire vertices?

Probably a dumb question... Say I have multiple lines and dwires that converge at a point, and I want them all to converge at a different point. Is there a quick way to edit the locations of the verticies of all of the lines at once? The only way Ive figured out how to do this is to select the lines...

Re: how would you draft a 3d tube chassis?

ah ha. Got it working now. Thanks for all the tips! for some reason I was thinking the align option would be something that appeared in the 'task' tab with the frame command. I guess im still used to the autocad feedback-during-the-command style. I need to get used to the draw it, then go back and c...

Re: how would you draft a 3d tube chassis?

thanks for all of the tips! I cant get the arch frame tool to work like it should. I select the 'path' then the shape i want to make the frame out of, and I get this (file attached). I must be doing something wrong, because it always keeps the shape in the same orientation as it is drawn, instead of...

Re: how to sweep oblique path?

Of course you have to orient your profiles the way you want them, but the Sweep then follows the path and controls the orientation accordingly. I suppose that, phrased differently, my initial post could be "how do I orient my profiles the way I want them." DeepSOIC somehow found a way to wade throu...

Re: how to sweep oblique path?

@ saltoj yeah, sounds like the same problem. the tool doesnt seem too useful on its own unless the path happens to already be drawn orthogonal to the plane that the sketch is in. looks like the solution is to line up your sketch with the path array trick. @ everyone else, sorry if I was ambiguous. I...

Re: how to sweep oblique path?

ah ha. that was the problem. be nice if the command actually told you that it was expecting something instead of just dumping some cryptic error. Anyway, so Im able to array along a path now. I still havent grasped how it helps me align a plane to the path however. I can only get it to align the edg...
