Re: FreeCAD Book Club

My FreeCAD UX related efforts have more or less reached final stages before completion. I am still open to apply some minor touches here and there if provided in appropriate effort forum threads as feedback. Including based on some (personal) design philosophy (if that makes sense). At this point go...

Re: FreeCAD Book Club

And at the end don't forget to ask the end users for their opinion. That is after reading the book and creating the ultimate UX. As likely you will need to make some adaptations. This is the part often lacking. In addition a few years back it was mentioned in some discussion (about the UX) current F...

Re: OpenCamLib Licensing

Just to make things more clear. FreeCAD license never prevented inclusion. It's FreeCAD policy about the licenses that did. Or did it as FreeCAD policy more or less applies to the FreeCAD source code contributions. Therefore if we would include it in install bundles as aggregate work. That would be ...

Re: Python 3/Qt 5 package uploaded to daily PPA

Tasks panel uses QSint based widget and some styling is applied by default. Likely here for Linux: https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/blob/master/src/Gui/QSint/actionpanel/freecadscheme.cpp What likely happens is when you set a custom stylesheet such styling gets removed. And therefore indeed the cu...

Re: appimage

Only the stable release. The release can be bigger (the differenceit is significant), that's what I am doing on Win. Can you do delta's for the next release, for the backports? Sure. Update information can be added for the next stable release. And i guess documentation. If that is desired and the s...

Re: HowTo install FreeCAD 0.18 on Ubuntu 18.04?

I have followed suggestion given on that topic, but it didn't work, I am still getting the same problem. Too bad. Therefore likely more in-depth investigation will be needed on what got borked during the upgrade procedure. And to sort out the dependencies first. Some old package causing the problem...

Re: ana(conda) windows packaging

Hi @looo I likely won't have any time to look into this in the next 2 to 3 days. As for: It's done manually by increasing the build-number. I see (looo-ci is still needed). Please have a look at https://github.com/looooo/freecad_conda ... ppimage.sh . I modified the script a bit. To avoid mkl use th...

Re: Civil engineering feature implementation (Transportation Engineering)

As suggested earlier here you likely should look more into the Arch side of FreeCAD. There are for example window presets (you can insert in a wall). Commands like Arch Wall for sure could build sidewalks (based on some profile from library following some path). And in addition there is the BIM (ban...

Re: ana(conda) windows packaging

I did some tests and using the approach: conda create -p $TRAVIS_BUILD_DIR/conda/AppDir/usr freecad It works as things like latest OCCT gets pulled in automatically. As for the size. I noticed some strange dependencies get pulled in like Intel MKL. This dependency alone weights around 200MB. Likely ...

Re: appimage

To include the documentation in the (stable/daily) AppImage? To be honest i am not all that sure (due to the size bump involved). But if general consensus will be gathered to include it (and there is no better alternative) it can happen.
