Re: Thumbnailprovider.dll

Thanks for investing the effort. Thumbnail support, on any supported platform, that for sure makes the FreeCAD experience more polished. Too bad, we can't enable the option, to create thumbnails automatically and by default. Potential strange looking thumbnail, on some combinations of GPU hardware, ...

Re: Workbench-Starterkit refactor

Yes, if there is a better way to handle this in ubuntu/debian then we should try it. I guess we simply have to define some standards for interfaces which can be fulfilled by any distro in one way. Likely it's the other way around. Much researching and adapting to existing Python, Linux, macOS and W...

Re: Workbench-Starterkit refactor

I guess this is the reason why we create the Startkit. I think people starting to code in python do not care much about the details how imports work as long as it works. So I guess the Starterkit should help them to get "started". I don't want anybody to dive into these details we are currently dis...

Re: Freecad-9999 ( Gentoo) crashes on Wayland ( Sway)

I know Gentoo Linux people like to compile, but ATM my best advice is to try on another (GPU) hardware, and you could try the AppImage:

Re: Let's talk about Conda

Well, one big benefit of Conda is it's cross platform. Another one is currently FreeCAD and its dependencies are well maintained. That comes down to having latest versions of most dependencies made available. In addition, currently people don't have to install Conda, for being able to run FreeCAD, a...

Re: Freecad-9999 ( Gentoo) crashes on Wayland ( Sway)

Opening an existing file, or creating a new document, that involves some GPU oriented operations. That is why testing on a different GPU (drivers) might make some sense.

Re: FreeCAD enhancements proposals

Sure, why not. I guess this can only take off if people will invest effort. Now i would still recommend for discussion regarding individual FEP to be conducted here, on the FreeCAD forum. And i am not all that sure, if it makes sense to introduced any "obstacles", like the need for a few people to a...

Re: macOS: Possible to have 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse support built into official releases?

FreeCAD 0.17 macOS packages were build and deployed from Travis, currently Conda packages are used for this purpose. If you are building FreeCAD yourself, you can take a clue from here: https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/blob/master/.travis.yml Look for the following section located in the .travis.y...

Re: Ubuntu 16.04 Python 3 builds coming to the PPAs

Thanks. P.S. I planned to stay on Ubuntu 16.04 in foreseeable future, but likely will eventually migrate to Ubuntu 20.04, likely before officially released. I was able to make Unity 7 work rather good in some tests i made. In addition using file manager like Nemo, instead of the Nautilus, that, amon...
