Re: Basic question: Part vs Body

Hi @Rod. My advice would be to use whatever works for you Thanks triplus. Me - I started in Part Design, not Part Design 'Body'. 'Body' was something new, confusing and extra learning, so for a long time avoided it. Then I see suggestions that people should start using Part Design 'Body' for when A...

Re: Basic question: Part vs Body

I think you both have a necessary symbiotic relationship which is a bonus for us novice viewers seeking information :D I've pondered the interplay between Part Design Body and something called the 'Assembler' (Assembly?). In simple terms I originally assumed the add on 'Assembler' was a freelance de...

Re: Validate Sketch does not find missing coincidences

An interesting discussion from my perspective and my 2 cents worth late on a Saturday evening. I've had similar outcomes now and then where ValidateSketch shows no issues. But when I pad the sketch I either get: - a broken face message and no padding, or - no message but a hollow padding fence like ...

Re: How to get a 'taper inward angle' draft clearance

09 Fillet applied to problem corner.JPG ppemawm's exercise is a little different. The sketch appears to sit between two walls. ppemawm added thickness to the wall when hollowing the gearbox - this thickness runs from the white line to the internal wall. The outside wall also seems to sit some dista...

It's a worry. Your model will disappear after selecting Draft. Re: How to get a 'taper inward angle' draft clearance

First off, got to ask meme2704 what is the yellow head on your signature? For the sake of completeness I've attached some pictures as I followed ppemawm's Draft method. Works well - thanks ppemawm. The small arc corner also showed problems in ppemawm's example if you look close, so I converted the ...

Re: How to get a 'taper inward angle' draft clearance

Going to correct myself for trying to do as many steps in Part Design WB/Body as possible. My understanding, the reason for using Part Design WB Body is that this is the path to the Assembly workbench(?) So would work done purely in Part WB be usable in the Assembly WB? As GeneFC indicated earlier, ...

Yes, I started with v16 doing what you are doing...now trying to use v17 Body and incorporate v16 knowledge as well. You should give v17 a go.
