In my opinion, Install_on_Unix should be renamed to Install_on_Linux.
+1 to this in particular, I recently got a MacOS VM set up, so when I went looking for instructions I saw Unix and clicked that first.

Re: Ubuntu 16.04 - error libfreecadgui.so

I found the problem! It was a renaming mistake between version 0.19 and 0.18 in the packaging files:

Code: Select all

libfreecad-python2-0.18.install
libfreecad-python3-0.19.install
I will be triggering a build shortly which will provide the fix. Thank you for reporting this.

Re: Ubuntu 16.04 - error libfreecadgui.so

Hello, I am using Ubuntu 16.04 and I have installed freecad 0.18 with repository "ppa:freecad-maintainers/freecad-stable". When I want to start I have the error: " freecad: error while loading shared libraries: libFreeCADGui.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory " Thank you ...

Re: Multiple versions of freecad in one system (bug or feature)

I am pretty sure the all-lowercase binaries thing is somewhere in the Debian Policy but a quick search couldn't find it just now. I ran into the same thing trying to reintroduce OCCT 7 with its DRAWEXE.

Re: Travis failures pybind11?

Git submodules can be quite a pain, I'm not sure moving it to that instead of simply a directory inside the master tree would have much benefit. (Especially from a packaging perspective.)

Re: Compiling on Ubuntu: Shiboken2 problems

On Ubuntu 16.04 I also have to include PYTHON_BASENAME and PYTHON_SUFFIX flags, so maybe adding those in this format would help:

https://salsa.debian.org/science-team/f ... /rules#L33

(DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH is for example x86_64-linux-gnu)

Re: Compiling on Ubuntu: Shiboken2 problems

You didn't specify which particular Ubuntu version you're on nor the CMake flags you used which would be helpful. You have both Python 3.6 and 3.7 on the same system? Is one a custom installation? If so, everything in FreeCAD's dependency chain which is linked against Python needs to be rebuilt to l...

Re: [Bug] FreeCAD headless running 'modules freecad' crashes console

I thought this was broken in the past, is it a regression?

I reverted it in the daily builds as well until I can find a solution.

Re: Ubuntu 16.04, thanks!

You're welcome! I had been meaning to get to it for a while and finally did, so keeping it up-to-date until it's end-of-life in April 2021 should be no problem.
