@kbwbe off-topic but relevant to reading xml. Do you think your XML reader can replace the FC dependency on libexpat ?
That dependency is from coin so it's unlikely.

Soon, I'll be uploading a 0.18~pre1 package to Debian just to get the waiting period in NEW started.

Your issue should be fixed with the latest version of pyside2, the 0ppa3 update. Can you try?

I realize that I didn't thank Kurt for his efforts in updating the PPAs to Qt 5.

Thanks Kurt!

I'm very curious to see how the Py2/Py3 builds will work out.
Thanks for your appreciation! I'm very curious as well, especially to see how it impacts build times.

Re: **FIXED***Latest freecad-community update broke *all* versions of FreeCAD on Ubuntu 18.04

This is not fixed for me. On Ubuntu 18.10 I deleted the Freecad Daily PPA and purged all the dependencies and re-installed Freecad Daily. With the same failure to start . During initialization the error /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/PySide2/QtCore.x86_64-linux-gnu.so: undefined symbol: _Z23init_...

too bad pythonocc seems not yet compatible with occt7.3...
As I understand it, it seems like they want to stick with OCE, too, so I wouldn't hold your breath on this one.

Re: Compile w/Py3 & Qt5 for Dummies

I got QT5 + Py3.7 working on debian sid using these changes: https://github.com/reox/FreeCAD_gitpackaging/commit/65aa0fa90281394e2a80aa9631b707f4af524697 I'm not sure about all the cmake variables, maybe some of them are also autogenerated... You shouldn't need to set all those flags, the only Pyth...

What is the procedure for this, anyway? Just checking the latest commit and updating the file manually before triggering a build?

Re: Latest freecad-community update broke *all* versions of FreeCAD on Ubuntu 18.04

This issue should be finally fixed now; the stable PPA should now support Qt 5 for Ubuntu 18.04 and above.

The problem was that debian/source/format was 1.0, not 3.0 (quilt).

Re: Latest freecad-community update broke *all* versions of FreeCAD on Ubuntu 18.04

But then this will break the freecad-daily package! Remember, we encouraged people to install both PPAs at the same time. I have both installed and many others do. This is a catch-22... Yeah, it's not ideal, but at the very least this just shifts the breakage from the stable PPA to only the daily P...
