Assembly 4 and CAM/Path

I'm getting my head around Assembly 4, certainly a step forward. Now I have a project that I'm ready to mill, but find only a 2D object, "Model" when I create a new path job. How do I produce a tool path without resorting to producing a separate file with the 3D model in it?

Re: Gcode export very slow

I'm having the same problem; frustratingly slow. @chrisb: how do you invoke that argument? OS: Debian GNU/Linux 10 (buster) (XFCE/xfce) Word size of OS: 64-bit Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit Version: 0.19.19541 (Git) AppImage Build type: Release Branch: master Hash: a797a4172709b82c6cd08dcf6df86cb789a...

Adaptive path: tool breakage at end of pass

Disclaimer: I'm no machinist. I've been using adaptive tool paths for milling aluminum for quite a while with generally good results. I have, however, noticed that tools tend to break at the end of a profiling operation and I have not been able to diagnose the issue. I've tried different feed rates,...

Re: Multiple entities in dxf export

Thank you both for the replies. Installing the dxf library did the trick. I'm off to cut parts!

Re: Multiple entities in dxf export

Thanks for the reply. I'll update OCC.

Attached is what I see upon opening the file you provided. Not sure what's up.

Multiple entities in dxf export

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. When exporting the attached file as a dxf for laser cutting, it creates a file appearing to have four copies of every entity. After tediously removing the seemingly duplicate entities, I am unable to produce complete polylines, which I presume means the entities a...

Re: Sketcher Constraint Auto Update Always On?

I redid the sketch, making a a series of simpler sketches on the surface of the parent part. Things went much better, and certainly more quickly. Then I made a change to the parent part and everything blew up. How do I maintain constraints based on geometry external to the sketch?

Sketcher Constraint Auto Update Always On?

Howdy: I have a sketch with >500 constraints. I don't know if that's too many, but judging by how long it takes for FreeCAD to update the sketch every time I make a change, I've got something set wrong, or I'm just stupid. Ok, for sure, i'm stupid, especially after a couple glasses of scotch. I've t...

Which post processor do you use? If you use linux_cnc, don't set the "--modal" argument.
Thanks, Chris. I am using linuxcnc with no arguments at all. I haven't found a list of available arguments; can you point the way?
