Re: Call to apply to workshop on Open Hardware

I am glad the timing might work out well for someone! We had to move the event from when we first planned and now it clashes with copyleftconf that is also on the 3rd! Please do apply.

Call to apply to workshop on Open Hardware

Hi All I am a FreeCAD user, frequent lurker on this forum, and I have occasionally posted. I work at the University of Bath designing OpenSource Hardware. I mainly work on the OpenFlexure project https://openflexure.org/ . The university is also famous in Open Hardware for being the start of the Rep...

Re: Feature Hole improvements

Hi Evind, Thanks for replying. I take your point about printing threads. And the tolerance class (though I would have "unspecified" as the default option, as speccing tolerances where they are not needed pushes prices up.) I think for thread percentages you misunderstood me when you said it was calc...

Feature Hole improvements

Hi, I am hoping to use some spare time to fix some issues I have with the Feature Hole tool. This is my first time actually developing rather than using FreeCAD so I want to discuss my plans, and confirm a couple of things. Problems I want to address: 1. UI sometimes has dead space next to things yo...

Re: DXF export crashes FreeCad

Here you go. Worth noting that I got it fixed, before I did this. Screenshot_20190725_165319.png Turns out that I needed to install the dxf Add-On. What was crashing was: /usr/share/freecad/Mod/Draft/importDXF.py because the line float(FreeCAD.Version()[0]+"."+FreeCAD.Version()[1]) was trying to tak...

DXF export crashes FreeCad

I am trying to export some drawings for a laser cutter. When I export to DXF I get the following error pup up: "invalid literal for float(): 0.18.1" after this FreeCAD hangs. Strangely (this could just be a KDE issue) it also hogs my keyboard focus and I cannot type in any program and I have to pres...

Re: Cannot polar pattern about non-normal axis (0.16)

Hi Mark

Thanks for the tip, it worked perfectly. I had to re-do a few things to get the helper pad/pocket in place. But after that it all worked.

Part complete!

Cannot polar pattern about non-normal axis (0.16)

Hi, I am trying to create a polar pattern with holes drilled into the side face of an annulus. I have the first hole/pocket and I can select to either revolve it about its normal axis or I can "select reference". The issue is the axis I need is not the normal axis, and "select reference" allows me t...
