Re: Current state of documentation - Your feedback as contributor
Moving to markdown gives some key benefits in terms of keeping documentation within the repository. There are countless tools that create final documentation using markdown. Docusaurus is one, if you wanted a fully Python version there is MKDocs. There are a number of other examples. As someone who ...

Re: Animation in Assembly 3
Thanks all! This is super helpful.
I'll give it a go when I find time and helpfully show case the result.

Animation in Assembly 3
Is there any way to create a animation of a mechanism that I plan to draw up and assemble in Assembly 3? I know this should be possible with Assembly 4, but I would rather not learn a second assembly workbench. Is there a way to animate the assembly 3 model with a script?

Re: [tracker] bugs in the toponaming branch
Hi all, Not sure if this should be in this thread or the one about the algorithm. I decided to create and test a contrived example to see how the toponaming AppImage would handle certain changes. I made this sketch Screenshot_20221117_163716.png I padded it, selected the face opposite the apex made ...

Importing STEP files from console application
Reading this thread https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?t=3951 I think I now understand that Part.open('file.step') and Part.Shape().read('file.step') are different to ImportGui.insert('file.step', document.Name) and that I need the later to import colour. Is there any way to access the funct...

FreeCAD 0.19 and KiCAD with apt
Sorry if this has already been discussed. I couldn't find a solution with the search. nning Ubuntu 20.04. I have installed FreeCAD 0.19 from the freecad-stable PPA. This gives me libocct 7.5.1, however I can only get it to install if it then uninstalls KiCAD which required libocct 7.3. Does anyone k...

Re: Can I Help with The Useability Key?
This kind of endeavor needs at least one highly active person committed to draft actual code before anything will change. Without that, anyone who proposes anything whatsoever is just spinning their wheels and the more time you spend on these forums, the more apparent that will be. So, if some of t...

Re: Can I Help with The Useability Key?
Sorry for the generality, I suppose the actual rudeness was just Bance. For example: I'd be surprised if somebody that is unable to use a spellchecker, would be able to overhaul anything. and Unfortunately, you just want to project manage, thanks but we get at least one offer a week, sometimes from ...

Re: Can I Help with The Useability Key?
One thing this thread highlights once again is that constructive criticism, and (non-code) offers to help are so often rejected on sight and even ridiculed on this forum. FreeCAD is fantastic in it's technical ability. The learning curve is steep and that is inevitable for something so complex. The ...
