Re: Discussion - Possible way ahead for OpenSCAD hull and Minkowski requests?

Your code Hullproblem.scad Hullproblem.csg is quite complex in that it takes OpenSCAD some time to render. On import, If one looks at the messages in FreeCAD's ReportView then one sees a lot of messages like 07:26:04 hull function 07:26:04 Part::Fuse / Matrix_Union008: Links go out of the allowed sc...

Re: Discussion - Possible way ahead for OpenSCAD hull and Minkowski requests?

I get the same problem with the standard OpenSCAD importer ( importCSG ) in FreeCAD 0.19.1. Chris @chennes has made some fixes which are in FreeCAD 0.20 but you say you tested 0.20 Are you sure you have the Latest 0.20? Might help to post your FreeCAD information. Anyway I used the Alternate Importe...

Re: Curves workbench

maybe all poles could be move into the new freeahand when creating. To me that seems a bit Kludge. The curve comes from a file called BezierCurve.3dm which is a sample file supplied with Rhino. It clearly is a Bezier Spline although the rhino3dm importer calls it a PolyCurve (but the rhino3dm impor...

Re: Curves workbench

Is it possible to select the control points and adjust the curve, if not could such a facility be added - Thanks Maybe by converting the curve into a freehand_bspline.??? I don't know if Chris could be. I got the impression from an early post that maybe this was possible in the early days, but if I...

Re: Creating a bespoke shell mesher in FreeCAD

So my question why reinvent the wheel? Surely it would be better to add the facility to create Quad meshes to the existing FreeCAD facilities for invoking Gmsh. GMSH is no ordinary wheel. Gmsh is a pennyfarthing with afterburning turbojets that only reach peak efficiency above speeds of Mach 3. I'v...

Re: Creating a bespoke shell mesher in FreeCAD

Curious - Gmsh has options to create Quad Meshes for any shape. I don't think the FreeCAD options for using Gmsh as used by the Mesh Workbench and FEM offer/expose this option but Gmsh DOES have the facility. So my question why reinvent the wheel? Surely it would be better to add the facility to cre...

Re: Export 1 face of 3D as a DXF

I tried but for some reasons I can no longer successfully export the Sketch. Not sure what is happening, but it looks like the dxf export is using X,Y Plane coordinates, where as the sketch is in X,Z plane. Some how I got it to work before without switching things around at all. A sketch is 2D but ...
