Re: Tracing out shape with wire (ignoring an axis when snapping)

Did you set the working plane from "Auto" to the desired plane

Re: the solution is Datum Plane

My best example for using Datum Things is in creating a table: - first create the table, a simple sketch with a rectangle and Pad this - a Datum point to locate the place where the leg meets the table - a datum edge through the Datum point as a centre line of the angled leg - a datum plane perpendic...

Re: empty doc when importing a SVG file

I have on Ubuntu the same problems as you have, however when I open in Inkscape and save the file to DXF I can import it in Freecad, change in Draft everything to sketch and in sketcher combine everything to one sketch , split in 3 sketches because the thing on the bottom and extrude Schermafdruk va...

Re: Sketcher slowness problems with a lot of constraints

Never make such sketches with over 100 constraints. Devide the design in a lot of simple solids. I made in Part design 1 box and 1 cylinder
The cylinder I gave an array in Draft and I did a boolean cut in Part workbench. Now I have a box with 43 holes in a very simple and fast design

Re: The mysterious "Pad:Result has multiple solids. This is not supported at this time."

Hi, Chrisb is right. There are some lines drawn double, I discovered 4 or 5. After deleting them in the sketch the Pad function works perfect. The Validation function in sketcer workbench helps with finding the doubles.
The file I checked is abomination.FCstd

Re: Geometry in other body

Yes, that is what the Shapebinder is for. If I change in the first sketch the vertical dimension from 25 to 35 than will the length in the second body also be 10 mm longer

Re: Geometry in other body

For this purpose we have in Freecad Shapebinders.
In this forum you can find a lot of examples of how to use Shapebinders

Edit: here is a video about the shapebinder

Re: [HOWTO?] Stable slot total length constraint

The last idea is to use two construction lines of equal length

Re: [HOWTO?] Stable slot total length constraint

another simple solution is to replace the 180 degree arcs by 90 degree arcs
