Re: How to create a hole?
Hi Chris, thanks for making me think different. I found a workaround now. The strange thing with this special case is that regardless of whether I reverse the sketch or not, the result is the same. I found out that the rotation of 180° in pitch translates into both 180° yaw and roll with 0° pitch. T...

Re: How to create a hole?
Hi Chris, thank you very much for your help! I mapped the sketch to a face because I was desperate. Agree, not mapping sketches to faces is much better. In the meantime I chewed on the problem. I started over again with a new, clean design to try every possible combination and learn. I have 5 cases ...

Re: How to create a hole?
Hi Chris,
thank you for super fast reply.
I have experimented with the "map reversed" option and had good success with holes on the X-Y plane.
What I can't seem to get right is the holes on Y-Z plane.

Re: How to create a hole?
Hello,
I have a very similar problem.
For me, holes work only on the X-Y plane.
If I attempt to create a hole e.g. on the Y-Z plane, this fails.
See attached example.
Any ideas?
Is it me or the software?
Thank you very much!
Best regards

Part built ot of solids is not solid?
Hello FreeCAD community, I plan to move and do it the geeky way building models of my furniture in FreeCAD to see whether it fits in the new place. This is why I'm currently drawing a lot of furniture in FreeCAD and do some parts in high detail for improving my modeling skills. On one part I get a s...

Re: The big IDF / STEP model to part matching challenge
it seems to me that only part name is needed in case of supplier 1 and 2 ... footprint field should be discarded This would improve the situation a lot. I find it unaesthetic to have both footprint and part where footprint seems obsolete. A switch to chose between footprint and part looks more eleg...

Re: The big IDF / STEP model to part matching challenge
From comparing supplier 1 and 3 the conclusion could be to just use the part number instead of the footprint to reference a STEP model. But now suppliers 2 and 4 come in that have the footprints rotated differently and for those suppliers the correct model would be placed on the board but with wrong...
