Re: How to mill this wooden bowl???

Oak and Waldnut cuts very well with a dedicated traditional endmill with cheap-breaker profile. I was impressed by how good the results are. No rattles or strange vibrations while cutting, as well as no strange noise. The stuff below is amazing (in particular the coated version): Selection_8385.jpg ...

Re: How to mill this wooden bowl???

In my mind the shape of the roundet area is the base of the problem... :The area has many individual segments wich are touching with an angle. This creates areas of the surface where the tollbit not can touch to. With a small ballnose (and a good path-algorithm) you can approximate the curved area ...

Re: How to mill this wooden bowl???

The wood should be cherry. Not sure at 100%... Was not oak or walnut for sure. I didn't find anyway to use a ballend for the curvature at the bottom. All methods failed. I do not think it is a version problem (0.21 or 0.22): the problem is the algorithm of the "Waterline" and "3D pock...

Re: How to mill this wooden bowl???

I solved the problem by manually creating a serie of multiple profile operations for the toolbit I borrowed from a woodworker (9,5mm of radius): Selection_8379.jpg The cut operation started from the most "internal" path towards the most "external" one. For every path I was cuttin...

Re: How to mill this wooden bowl???

Any idea on how I could artificially add three or four "levels" lines on the curved fillet? Selection_8375.jpg I would like use that outlines to mill-out the more material I can with a traditional endmill before the "finish-pass" with the ballnose toolbit. In fact, I need to sele...

Re: How to mill this wooden bowl???

Has the ballnose the same radius as the curved surface? Then you could use a profile of the flat lower face with no compensation. I surrender. I think your ideas is the best option I have at the moment. A friend of mine gave me a ballnose toolbit for manual power-tools with a radius of 9.5 mm. I wi...
