Re: hit wall trying to learn freecad

hm, I need video of someone actually using the system, tutorials I have surpassed now. As an aside, and just an aside, I noticed that some of the models are not ready to make. Not actually precise. The model I showed in the op was/is ready to manufacture, fully precise. That's the way I try to work.

Re: hit wall trying to learn freecad

I know about datums, although I don't see much what they have to offer much here, I have never heard of shapebinders... it still remains a mystery to me exactly how you would model such a thing, especially in a reasonably efficient way. for example, with the table yorik uses in his tutuorial https:/...

hit wall trying to learn freecad

I have gone through Yorik's tutorial, and read around a lot on the wiki, watched quite a few videos and spent tens of hours trying to fuddle with freecad. I think what I need is to see a video or in person of someone actually using it to do serious, real things. Anyone know where I might find this? ...

Really finishing freeCAD

CAD is an extremely important part of the manufacturing world, of course. Pivotal. As we imagine the world ahead, it will rapidly become more so, as initiatives like the fab city initiatives, fab labs, makerspaces, truly useful 3d printers, become a real force. But again and again when I ask people ...

Converting an assembly from step to native freecad

We are having great difficulty getting a step file into native librecad, you can see the file here:http://opensourceecology.org/wiki/File:CEBPressJuneGroup.fcstd I remember when using solidworks I had an easy time modifying the step files, and step objects were not dumb vector graphics but had their...

Suitability of freecad for Open Source Ecology - Design of open source tractors, other heavy machinery.

Ok, I have previously tried to discern the answer to this myself, including by downloading and spending several hours with freecad. As far as I can tell, the use of freecad to design, from paper sketches for instance, and to modify and update say 20 times, a machine with say 20 moving parts, is not ...
