Re: Gmsh error: Unknown element type for UNV export (MSH type 15)

good idea johannes, another possibility would be a post to gmsh mailing list. I investigated what I wrote yesterday and it seems that the node 15 elements are just the vertices from the geometry. I generated a fusion object by fusing together sphere, cube, torus, cone and meshed it with gmsh 4.3.0....

Re: Gmsh error: Unknown element type for UNV export (MSH type 15)

... I thought, it is just an incompatibility in gmsh where single node elements are created and the UNV export - which is necessary for the communication with FreeCAD - cannot "write them out". At the end of the day the MSH type 15 elements are not exported ... This leads to the question, "What is ...

Re: Ticket #3315 - [FEM] mesh groups only work after calling gmsh again

3315 discussion thread I've submitted a PR https://github.com/berndhahnebach/FreeCAD_bhb/pull/57 where I started a first attempt to integrate groups without remeshing. Namely, I exposed some group functions like addGroup and addGroupElements from C++ to Python. The PR has to be approved and reviewe...

Re: FreeCAD and ParaView

I rely heavily on ParaView in my posts and recent tutorial (https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/Analysis_of_reinforced_concrete_with_FEM) and wonder if that is seen as a help or hindrens (to spreading the FreeCAD gospel). I would be happy to do a small ParaView tutorial with some practical tips and tri...

Re: FEM mesh: Create mesh groups in Python (exposing C++ functions to Python)

wow! I will have a look! :D  Hehe I knew that this would make you happy :D Just some further short questions about groups: Would it make sense to also add deleting functionality? Like a delGroup function? Would it make sense to add also the whole bunch of manipulating group functions? I.e....

Re: FEM mesh: Create mesh groups in Python (exposing C++ functions to Python)

ping pong  Any news here? If we have implemented addGroup and the former mentioned functions, maybe we can think of to define boundary conditions also based on groups and not only on geometry. From this the flexibility of FEM is increased and also compliance calculations (these simulations...

Re: Appveyor is timing out

I will have a look. BTW it was me who got in kontact with joha2 in the regard of this because this is one of the few FEM modules I never use and he has coded the module. Sorry @bernd that I did not mention you, when I posted the link in this thread. I just wanted to give @abdullah a response that w...

Re: Appveyor is timing out

I have this other Fem test failing because of Gui imports: https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/pull/2201/commits/7c325c9fe998c8a6d23ead46ea700ad0dcc97f86 @abdullah isn't that the importFenicsMesh function you mentioned above? Please have a look at my last post. Maybe we can discuss these issues :mrg...
