Re: Assembly3 preview

There where some ideas in the past on how to tackle this area. One problem to determine i guess is the strategy around recompute routine. Regarding all the changes and files involved. On how to manage that. I have already solved this problem. The recompute logic is modified to collect dependency ac...

Re: CAD exchanger and FreeCAD

Can one of you please send me the problematic file to have a try? The upstream step import/export can handle assembly structure just fine, but it does not respect the instance and reference representation. As a result, the import and export process may inflate the file size quite a bit, if the step ...

Re: Assembly3 preview

If I understand correctly, you would like to know the constraint tools available in other CAD programs. I wanted to know if other CAD can link to external objects, with partial document loading, i.e. only load those that are referenced in the main document. But then I remembered reading somewhere s...

Re: Assembly3 preview

And what to expect will happen once somebody decides to implement the full multi document geometry management as discussed. Will Links effort in its current form (features like XLink with partial multi document geometry management) need to be rethinked or do you imagine should be easily extended? W...

Re: Assembly3 preview

If i remember correctly you said Links add a bit of complexity and make it even harder to implement such functionality on top of everything. In my opinion best to figure this out in down stream branch and to mature things further? In addition i could have seen the whole Links effort bringing the me...

Re: Topological Naming, My Take

Not much. I haven't release the last improvement yet, the one shown in the last screen cast. Mostly been busy with STEP import/export stuff. I plan to release it in early next month.

Re: v0.18 or later - Designing in Context

I know that i have to re-sync after i move the parent body. But when i create the shapebinder the first time, it is on the wrong place and i have to sync it manually. This extra click can be confusing for some people. Do you have changed the shapebinder behaviour since 0.4? Appearance and random co...

Re: Assembly3 preview

Ideally Links effort would resolve the problem of loading geometry from multiple documents (documents opened or closed) in a seamless way. Not only for Assembly purposes but in general. That would be a strong selling point. This feature is difficult to implement with the current FC document structu...

Re: Assembly3 preview

Well, in a different thread i was reading that "the other Part Design developers" are not really active presently, except your with your fork, I think it might make sense to have a discussion thread started about the integration of your work into the master development. If there is no one else doin...
