Re: Path.Area: Welcom, to the new era!

All these are really good projects but there are others that might make even more use of your skills. Here's my small list of big dreams that take a much stronger programmer than I am. Wow, these are some advanced stuff. It'll take me some time to digest. And I am just planning on my first real CNC...

Re: Path.Area: Welcom, to the new era!

No, Gcode is pretty primitive and simple. Each move/axis is independent. The moves don't translate or rotate the part, they translate/rotate the cutting point relative to the current part coordinate system. All this talk about coordinates is head spinning. See, when we think in terms of the ViewPro...

Re: What's new in PartDesign Next

You found a post that is 1 1/2 year old - and still top news! Well, sort of. You may rather have a look at one of the pinned topics in the help section. There are great examples linked: http://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=15432 Thanks for the tip. Almost missed it, since you didn't quot...

Re: Path.Area: Welcom, to the new era!

Yes and no. The Path commands can handle additional axis of movement but the viewprovider ignores everything except XYZ. hmm... I have zero experience with any machine beyond XYZ. So, how does it work? ABC is supposed to be the surface normal, right? So if any ABC move is executed, is the following...

Re: Path.Area: Welcom, to the new era!

Some new features added. Segmentation, to break long curve into segments. Immediate use case: PCB milling autolevel. Screenshot from 2017-01-31 18-29-09.png 3D wire sorting support. Why stop at 2.5D? Highly experimental, though. Path currently ignores A,B,C axis, I think. import Part,Path doc=App.ne...

Re: Path of pocket with inclined sidewalls

What is the computation time to generate this Path, Mr Thunder? I dont have Path.Area installed. Could you generate a path for the inverted LOFT Object from the stock block below? LOFT.png Thanks! It seems every challenge reveals some bug at the moment. I simply tried with a mirror of the original ...

Re: Path.Area: Welcom, to the new era!

This is definitely some powerful stuff. I was finally able to get it going and created pockets from shapes that wouldn't be possible otherwise. Very cool. Since chrisb immediately asked the question about integrating this into the rest of Path, let's talk about that. I'm of two minds about it and n...

That's strange. Here is my file. I just redo all the steps I described. No problem here. Could you please send me your file.

Re: Path of pocket with inclined sidewalls

Now we're talking! That looks very interesting. I've pulled your current branch and I'm trying to duplicate your results but I get this error regardless of what I do: Exception (Sun Jan 29 21:24:16 2017): shape is not planar How do you select the shapes? To create FeatureArea, you must select the s...

Re: Path of pocket with inclined sidewalls

Is this operation "Shock and Awe" ? I think it is time to get accusomed to this Git-stuff. Is there a possibility to change the direction of the diagonal path segments as well? For production I would like to have at least four goes, one for each side. By direction, you mean the zigzag directi...
