Re: PathGui: ViewProviderPath visual enhancement #625

I really like the improvements to the viewprovider but I'm curious why you switched the path color from green to blue? This isn't a big deal but all the Path icons use green to show generated paths. The change may cause confusion. Power users, please weigh in. Really? That must be a mistake. I was ...

Re: Path.Area: Welcome, to the new era!

This is kind of what I was referring to when I said the existing python code represents a lot of 'border cases'. I don't think the Path.Area tool needs to account for all of them, itself. It just needs to be very accessible from python so we can tweak the paths when necessary. The TechDraw.findPart...

Re: Path.Area: Welcome, to the new era!

Your method will work for my pawn but not as a general solution to the 2.5D contour I'm trying to achieve. In other shapes there is no absolute z height at which a section represents an outside profile. That's what the TechDraw function does - a projection onto the plane and then a determination of...

Re: Path.Area: Welcome, to the new era!

I rebuilt with the latest and it correctly builds each step-down part of the path. However, the vertical moves are rapids (G0). After the cutter completes all cuts at a given Z-height, it should feed at the vertical feed rate to the next Z height and then continue. A rapid to the next level could c...

Re: Path.Area: Welcome, to the new era!

I've attached a file with my chess pawn part. I select the pawn and run this macro. It gets the 2D projection and then builds the step-downs for a 2.5D contour. While the shapes are all at the correct heights, the path calculated from the list of shapes has all moves at z=0. Do I need to add the ve...

sliptonic wrote:No. I'm using the latest master. So it's your latest which has been merged. I can try rebasing from your branch.
Please try my PathArea branch at github first. I haven't submit it as PR yet.

Re: Path.Area: Welcome, to the new era!

There are many settings and options to explore and it's not clear what they all do. Trying to play with it with FeatureArea doesn't really help since when problems happen, I don't know if it's FeatureArea or the underlying Path.Area That's fine. Just send me the model when you got any problem. I'll...

Re: Path.Area: Welcome, to the new era!

Without actually benchmarking it, I think the new is faster at offsetting a single section because everything is in c++. However, it calls libarea many many more times depending on the number of sections and these are pretty expensive operations.. What comes back is much more useful -- We can do th...

Re: KiCad and FreeCAD collaboration!

Is there a repo to test i.e. converting a kicad board with tracks like in your attached image pcb_combo? I'll add the document soon. I'm currently doing some optimization on path sorting for PCB milling. You can try my repo with any kicad_pcb file. Some pad shapes are not implemented yet, e.g. trap...

Re: Era defining gadget, made in FreeCAD!

Do you have a page somewhere to read some more details about your project? on hackaday maybe... Nope. This is the first public mentioning of this device. I always wanted to at least get the android part working with transforming and everything before announcement. So that I can show people instead ...
