Re: datum dialog does not perform Euler or Cardan transformation on rotations

… not natural !!! What is natural? In the aeronautical definition the Z-axis points downward => a conflict to the "CAD point of view". Let it be and give the axis cross not only a tool to toggle, but a configuration tool to make it permanent or not. Each time I start a file, there is the task to mak...

Re: Curves workbench

… a contribution to the Mixed_curve tool in CurvesWB. Trying to produce a 3D-"wire" without knot points, Mixed-curve is able to deliver a usable sweep path. But it only seems to work with Sketcher BSpline. Using a Polyline instead fails - selecting segments is the showstopper. https://forum.freecadw...

… if you engage an Oktopus as baker, one can do a much more complicated brezel twist.
Also done with Mixed_Curves and PartWB Sweep.

Re: Challenge: Model a pretzel

… wow a FEM-Brezel - a brezel has over its lifetime 3 stages within 24h: fresh, tough and hard. This one must be the rubber stage. When a baker does the twist, he first twists his arms, gripping the ends, untwist his arms and positions the ends. Twisting done by mixed-Curves (CurvesWB) instead of a ...

Re: datum dialog does not perform Euler or Cardan transformation on rotations

… if I use the coordinates of the plane orientation in DataTab: - they seem to build a normal vector with length 1 - but they don't give a vector normal to the plane? - assuming the vector's start must be positioned at the planes origin corner? I agree with Uwe, that's beyond brain imagination. Ther...

Twist done with combined_curves_projection / mixed_curve from CurvesWB.

Warning:
Don't store your own Data, Examples and Pictures under the folder "AirPlaneDesign"
they get lost when updating AirPlaneDesignWB.

Re: how to create datum plane and line with defined angle

My first test to position your plane with Placement and Euler angles went also wrong. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euler_angles Roll 45 is not at all the correct angle. They must be known. Yaw 45° and Roll 54,736° (measured). Calculate: angle = arc_tan(1/√2) - 90° Something similar is the definitio...

Re: Make this wing hollow

… look into
https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=41605
there are trials and proposals to use spline for wire generated profiles.
My experiments are, to use Sketcher BSpline without inner knots to redraw existing profiles.
I test them with comb tool in CurvesWB.
