Re: Richauto A18

Hi guys, and thanks for responding. I don't know if this will help, but here is a .tab file generated by Vcarve to cut the CNC Router Parts dust collector shoe. I generated it using the post processor given me by Omni, my machine manufacturer. It has two circles and two arcs. Looks like vcarve hate...

Re: Richauto A18

yeah, he even said it's the post processor code, not actual gcode :) edit: I had the mistaken impression that OP has vcarve already and is looking to switch to freecad, after re-reading it doesn't seem to be the case; after the cursory look at the richauto list of supported GCode, I'd just try the l...

Re: Richauto A18

I have no idea how vectric works (I'm one of those people who insist on running as much free software as possible), and I have limited experience with GCode dialects, but +--------------------------------------------------- + Commands output at toolchange +-------------------------------------------...

Re: how can the program distribute copies of the workpiece?

Arch also has a nesting tool under the panel operations; it still doesn't work :) The way I did it on the last thing with many identical pieces was to set the stock size manually, set the number of copies in the job settings, then do the tetris by hand (move / rotate to best fill the available space...

Re: Tools, old Tool, new ToolBit and other fun stuff

I'm on ubuntu 16.04 and am getting all sorts of QT-related tracebacks when trying to load the toolbit stuff (library, create bit, etc.); I guess I'll upgrade to 18.04 one of these days, I'm guessing it's some QT api mismatch

Re: Thread Mill

the only issue with this method is the retract (it's on the edge, so it will be a single use cutter :P)

I guess you'll need some code / macro to generate the thread and retract correctly, or some gcode postprocessing

Re: countersink tool... what version can they be created and used in?

that's an engraving bit, so I guess engraver is a better choice, and that one has the helpful image explaining dimensions

Re: Return router to start position

yup; if the preferred position is to have postprocessors replace \n in *ambles with newlines, I'll remove the return-to parameter; the other one is still useful for grbl machines methinks (adding custom operations is very prone to human error and I've already had the thing crash a few times because ...
