Re: Return router to start position

No need for PR, it's all there. There is already an argument --postamble . read the code, you can't swap it out without breaking behaviour: PREAMBLE = '''G17 G90 ''' # default preamble text will appear at the beginning of the gCode output file. POSTAMBLE = '''M5 G17 G90 M2 ''' # default postamble t...

Re: Return router to start position

Come to think of it, I think I'll add it to the postprocessor - I need to add another option, and in my case I prefer to have the spindle move out of the way at the end, so something like --return-to=0,0 could allow one to tell it where to go; it's definitely not something to do by default, though, ...

Re: Return router to start position

You could always add a custom operation at the end (Path -> Supplemental commands -> Custom, put "G0 X0 Y0" in the Gcode field); some operations will return to [0, 0] as well, but it's rather inconsistent (come to think of it, I think this might be fixed in 0.19, in 0.18 it was definitely annoying -...

Re: Engraving woes with freecad-daily

I'm on 0.19, and the shapestring was an example (I was trying to engrave some svg graphics when I came to this - that's another place where there doesn't seem to be any clear path from svg to something path can use - the imported thing is an unmanageable pile of edges (and engrave throws all sorts o...

Engraving woes with freecad-daily

There seems to be an overall lack of documentation / process for engraving, and sometimes my typical Monte Carlo problem solving approach (click random things until it works) seems to fail; case in point, I'm trying to engrave some text, and after lots of flailing I think I got to the simplest thing...

Has it the meaning of "finish"?
not a native speaker, but I would guess more like "prettify" :)

I think, unless there is already a dedicated technical term in the target language, the equivalent of "modifier" (edit: or "transformation") would be a good translation.

Re: Cabinet furniture design tools workbench

When thinking about a workbench we should think about two different user groups: (1) The professional carpenter shop using mostly automated production, CNC and has to calculate based on a larger warehouse of supplies (1.5) The average Joe who has a CNC large enough to build furniture-sized objects ...

Re: Making CNC Machine

looks nice and sturdy, but... how well do those rails and bearings take side loads? because both x and y axes seem to be designed to load rails sideways (heavy gantry pushing down on the table rails, cutting forces translating to side loads on the gantry rails and some racking loads on the table rai...

Re: Topology optimization

the current method is even worse ;)

that's why I said it's better to use a text config file (ini, yaml)
