Re: Spring mechanical part

EDIT: I managed to make the catalogue "work" by going to the calculations first and then from there to the catalog. This is very cool. Thanks!! You're welcome. To select a spring by mechanical dimension, select wire diameter d (e.g. 1mm), outer diameter De (your screw diameter (4mm) + 2 times wire ...

Re: Spring mechanical part

If you are looking for springs, go to some vendor, browse the catalogue and download models. Main page of producer Gutekunst (no login required): https://www.federnshop.com/en/ There's an online catalogue available where you can enter geometry/size, range of movement and force and select the matchin...

Re: make view --> fit all fit the modell instead of the grid

Wouldn't it be easier upon "fit all" to
1) check if the grid is visible
2) hide the grid
3) fit all
4) restore the grid visibility status as seen in 1)

No need to mess with Coin internals or nodes. Unless Coin ignores the invisibility, that is.

Re: From edges to solids

Hello ponnuki, Welcome to FreeCAD and the forum. Best way from where you appear to be with the model would be to use Part > Shapebuilder to make the faces from edges and then extrude them. http://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/images/a/a6/Part_Shapebuilder.png I don't think that's what the OP is after. I ...

Re: help with surfaces on a model required

I need to put a sloped surface on my model from the somewhere near the 2 lines (used for illustration) down to the rad on the lower section of the part , is it possible and how would I go about this.
Sure, see attachment for how I would probably do it for one side.

Re: Question on grid resolution in sketch in part design

I tried opening your sketch, but failed. FreeCAD went to 100% CPU for several minutes, then I killed it before it could kill my poor notebook  Anyway, your description sounds like you don't necessarily have conflicting constraints, but redundant ones. For a tangent between a circle and a ho...

Re: spaceball 5000 mouse usb

Oh, ***. Button list did come up, but nothing happens when trying to select from the Commands list on the right. File, Edit, etc., are all greyed out. Is this a bug ? Is there a difference between 32- and 64- Windows ? I don't think so. For me, either selecting a button in the left list with the mo...

Re: spaceball 5000 mouse usb

Ahh ! ... Got buttons ! In the Spaceball - Button s customise window (when it is empty), just press one of the joystick's buttons and the available settings pop up. Which buttons/actions do you use ? I don't do much with FreeCAD, but at work with CATIA I've got a lot of buttons in use (5 viewing di...
