Re: How to unbend (flatten) a part for sheet manufacturing

I would take both the drawing with dimensions and the model (exported as STEP) to the manufacturer. I'm designing bended sheet parts at work all the time (well, using CATIA V5...), and the unfolded view of the part is optional as the bending radius also depends on the bending machine available to th...

Re: Freecad locls up on invocation

Another couple of strange happenings: The, "Start Page", tab at the bottom of the drawing window vibrates wildly up and down, and the mouse pointer looks like two arrow heads pointing up and down, with a small horizontal cross bar in between them. This just gets weirder and weirder. I've seen such ...

Re: "failed to validate broken face" when making new pocket

there are two problems with your model: 1) It is forked. Sketch001, Pad001, Sketch005 and Pocket001 must be deleted. Then change change "Pocket" to "depth: 75mm" 2) The sketch for the key slots is invalid. See attachment for corrected version. The horizontal lines must be converted to construction g...

As a guess: First add material on the inside with a chamfer, then apply another chamfer to the outside edge to remove the material there.

Re: How do I do multiple sketches

Short answer: You don't. At least not in current Part Design.

All sketches except the very first one must be based and located on faces of already existing bodies, creating a sequence of features that create the final body.

Not on my system. I would have to download it then load it into FreeCAD just to look at a picture.
Okay, two clicks, one to download, one to confirm "open in standard program (FreeCAD)", but still :geek:

Re: Spherical Calotte with 3 Walls

I did a quick take with PartDesign. Editing the first sketch, it's possible to alter the Calotte parameters, and likewise editing the second sketch for the thickness of the wall. star.png Regards Ektus. Re: Cut not working as expected. Help please.

If I understand this part correctly, it's possible without a helper. See the attached file for the principle (sketches are vastly underconstrained and not all geometry has been recreated, but you get the idea).
