Re: FEA for additive manufacturing.

Found this video on simulations of the AM process.
At about 18 minutes in it starts to describe the problem.

Still waiting on more details about how this type of software does this and whether Calculix could be coaxed into doing it as well.

Re: FEA for additive manufacturing.

Hello, Very interesting topic !!! There is a plugin which links freecad with Cura software based 3d printing machines, https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?t=30540 Maybe can help... Yes it is interesting. Thanks for the pointer but I do not think Cura is the right type of software. I appears ...

Re: FEA for additive manufacturing.

Would be good to get more background informations how such an analysis is performed. I am seeing if i can get some more but in the mean time the following comment was made about these types of simulations and i assume it's about stuff they also do. Since i am a neophyte at all this i do not know th...

Re: FEA for additive manufacturing.

Wait a minute, you are saying Calculix will do FEA and thermal analysis as each layer of material is put down by the 3D printer. Layer by layer simulations which add to what previously has be built until the part is finished printing? This is not just a simulation of a finished part but a simulation...

Re: FEA for additive manufacturing.

Calculix has a 3d printing related similation? Great. Do you have link to tutorial? Many thanks.

This should give one a better idea.

Re: FEA for additive manufacturing.

Found a few pointers on where to look like Genoa 3DP and another is Simufact Additive by MSC software. Need to check because all this is very new to me.

Re: FEA for additive manufacturing.

looks like you search for something different. do you know some examples how and where it is been used... software youtube examples etc I have not looked because I do not have funds to justify purchasing but most of the major FEA software vendors (such as Abaqus, ANSYS, COMSOL or Nastran) introduce...

Re: FEA for additive manufacturing.

don't know if i understand your question well... do you meant topological optimalisation like this: https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?t=15460 and https://github.com/fandaL/beso I am not sure but I do not see the analysis happening as AM machine tool fills the model with material which requ...

FEA for additive manufacturing.

Do we have the ability to do FEA for additive manufacturing. Specifically, element activation where the part is meshed before the analysis but when the simulation starts all its elements are deactivated and become activated when AM machine tool fills them with material. This would include variable c...
