Re: How to create face from shape?

There are other methods of doing it - I showed my way. I primarily use PartDesign workbench and, when needed, I use other workbenches in the most minimum way to get what I need for use in PartDesign. DXF are just lines. Draft uses (and creates) just lines. Need to convert lines into usable format - ...

Re: How to create face from shape?

First, in my opinion, it would be far quicker to completely redraw it in PartDesign. Having said that, it was easy enough to get it done this way - basically, clipping the file to 1/4 and using symmetry, as follows: In PartDesign workbench: Create a New ‘Part’ Add a Body to the Part. Import your .DX...

Re: Please help to repair to a solid out of a imported step model

This may not be what you wanted but, I repaired it using NetfabFree. Exported as .stl Checked it in 3D print software and all is well for printing it. If you want a different file type, specify it or, import it into FreeCAD and you can manipulate it (I also exported it as a .step so you can add some...

Re: Loft with Cuts - a Bug?

Wanted to say 'Thanks again' :D

I went back to earlier version, re-sketched (without swells - just narrowed the backend because I'm lazy today but may add them later...).

All is well!

Re: Loft with Cuts - a Bug?

Yes - I did understand everything posted but, without my saying it, I was not inclined to redraw the sketches and tried only to tweak what I had. I did not clue-in that it was a link to wiki but will remember that for future… Might have been helpful to state something like “here’s a link”. Regarding...

Re: Loft with Cuts - a Bug?

... follow up... It appears the order of drawing the shape(s) truly does determine what gets connected to what For a test, I deleted the outer/inner shapes in both Front and Rear sketches. Re-drawing and Lofting them worked fine and the side cuts work. I guess I’ll have to keep that in mind going fo...

Re: Loft with Cuts - a Bug?

NormandC - I do not see your ref to wiki. TheMarkster - thanks! Yeah, well hidden :o Regarding swapping inner/outer... Yes, I understand (not complicated to understand that). But, needing to: 1) do that, 2) re-dimension to get what's needed, 3) fool-around and tweak to get it to work All that falls ...

Re: Loft with Cuts - a Bug?

Thanks.

I do not see where to enable extra BOP ?

I did re-draw the sections to have equal number of lines. Did not help to solve it. The loft lines still cross over... How can I control that?

(It did make a smoother loft with fewer lines, though...)

Re: Loft with Cuts - a Bug?

Thanks.

I redid the loft by selecting an inner line on the front section. Then, selected the corrosponding line on the rear section.
Some line lofted parallel. Some crossed. Did not fix the Cut problem...
I see no way to control that ???

Re: Loft with Cuts - a Bug?

Good points, thanks,NormancC. For each section, I drew new sketches. The inner shape/geometry first as they are the fixed interfaces that mate with real hardware then drew the outer shape. The outer geometry basically defines the wall thickness (of 2.5 mm). Referring to Figure_1: That is the actual ...
