Re: Hole feature

Yes, it is possible to always use two sketches to define a hole (position + profile). However, I think this is the exception and not the common case. I think using a sketch for the profile is unnecessary most of the time if the hole feature is parameterized properly. This is what I have tried to do ...

[Postponed] Hole feature (C++ version)

Hi, The Hole feature mentioned in the Part Design forum is available at https://github.com/eivindkv/free-cad-code. This repository is based on the most recent git://git.code.sf.net/p/free-cad/code. The FeatureHole branch was made from the tip of jriegel/dev-assembly. It is not rebased to master yet ...

Hole feature

Hi, I've made a new feature for making holes in FreeCAD. It's implemented in C++ in the Part Design module (using the existing, but not working FeatureHole.cpp). It is sketch-based, and it will use the center points of all circles in the selected sketch and make holes where these are. The code is wo...

Re: Material module

IMO a data-base is the wrong data structure in that case. Way to complicated for that simple task.... First of all, most of the materials we use nowadays are pretty steady and well known. I would say with a couple of hundred materials we catch 99.9 percent of the use-cases! This materials I would h...

Re: Material module

In the Material workbench it should be possible to load a file for instance generated from the material database. When opening a list or table is presented with materials and their properties. Then, one can select a property and press on something like 'Add to document' and a Material object is cre...

Re: Material module

Hi crashfridh, your right, material is now really needed. I have already implemented a key/value property in the Assembly branch. Every Item in the assembly framework will have a key/value map called Material. This will be the container for all material related values. I think we should do a wiki p...

Re: Material module

@eivindkvedalen It make physically no sense to handle material to others then finit volumes of geometrical shapes. If you have a box, the surfaces of the box can not have different material! They can have different colors, but thats an other story. There fore I think about a seperate "View" object,...
