Re: CAM simulation for the Path Workbench

G53-G59 are Coordinate Systems. G59 extends out as G59.1-G59.x, and Freecad supports to G59.9. So, G53 is the Machine-Coordinates--for me, defined by HomingSwitches on X, Y, and Z. G54--in Mach3--is a scratchpad Coordinate system and doesn't get saved. G55 I defined for my vacuum-chuck--it's an offs...

Re: CAM simulation for the Path Workbench

On the project I have been working that has a bunch of that stuff in it, everything is working except the Fixture it appears, with your updated script.
That's really appreciated!
Thanks,
Josh

Re: CAM simulation for the Path Workbench

Not sure if these affect your approach/thinking at all Shai, but: 1. Dogbone only goes with Contours I believe. 2. RampEntry can go with Contour-Cuts, Facing, and Pocketing. 3. Copy only applies to OP-Commands (Which will have Tool-Controller/Base), not OP-Partial Commands, so for example, you can c...

Re: CAM simulation for the Path Workbench

Yes, on Custom, there is no Tool per se. I generally--though I didn't in that example--insert the Tool code by hand to ensure that my Post-Processor handles it appropriately. For example, in a recent Job, I had a Custom-GCode that began with: (machine: iWorx Taig CNC mm/min) (T21: 1/8 Tapered 2-Degr...

Re: CAM simulation for the Path Workbench

Hi Shai,
Attached is a simple Example file with most if not all of those options exercised.
Best,
Josh

Re: CAM simulation for the Path Workbench

Hi Shai, I'm still figuring things out myself, so no problem. Under the Path-WB, Path-Menu, all the Path Operations are available: Path-Dressup: 1. DogBone-Dress-up: Modifies Contour Cuts to over-cut the corners. 2. DragKnife-Dress-up: I don't know how this one works, but believe it's used for foam ...

@JoshM

Yes, its diameter-#Tooth-cutting_length-intended_material
I use this scheme for end mills.
Face mills and bullnose mills start with a textual label.

This is just works-for-me stuff ;)

Thank you @Throsten--appreciate your perspective and experience!

Re: CAM simulation for the Path Workbench

Hi Shai, I hadn't thought to try that before, but when I did try it just now, the Pause works fine during the FF/Computation stage. It seems like it's on the playback side of things... It's a minor thing really. Have you had any thoughts on whether it's feasible to add in the Path-Dressup, and Path-...

Re: CAM simulation for the Path Workbench

If I slow it to 2G/s it's more responsive--enough to catch it within a second or two. If it's even up at 10G/s, it's non-responsive. The Speed-Bar is a bit more responsive, so at the moment, the workaround is to grab that, move it as far left as possible, then hit pause/stop... That said, it's so fr...

Re: CAM simulation for the Path Workbench

Hi Shai,
I hadn't run into this before--hadn't tried Stopping, or Pausing, but tried it today and they weren't responsive for me. Are they in progress, or is it a thread-priority type of thing?
Best,
Josh
