Re: Couple of potential bugs...

Okay--just took another run at this and have some success! I realized that on the previous pass because of the Helix operation, it dragged a 3/16" bit through my 12mm tall work at 11mm after finishing a Drill operation. Then, the 7/64" drill operation was also at 11mm rapid travel, again running rig...

Re: Couple of potential bugs...

Thanks Roivai--appreciate the help! The bug with Heights is KILLING me. Path is insisting on Z-heights, based on who knows what, and I just found out the hard way how poorly it chooses in some cases, and it messed up the cut... Luckily it was Delrin, so no harm other than lost work, but that's an im...

Couple of potential bugs...

I searched and didn't find this complaint from anyone else, so here goes: When Editing a Path-Drilling-Object to Remove Base-Geometry elements, there doesn't appear to be any trap if I Remove the final item. If I do this, there appears to be no trap, and the list is repopulated with other elements--...

Non-Looped Contour/Edge Cutting?

If I want to mill a complete contour, I can accomplish this in multiple ways in Path. I'm unable to figure out how to cut edges that are not in a loop though, and this is very limiting for practical CNC GCode generation. For example, if I wanted to mount a rectangular piece of stock and cut the ends...

Re: Tool Selection?

I modified my FC operations to use the Pocket_3D operation, and that did what I needed for pocketing the two areas, leaving clean results where the two holes exist in the pocket floors. Thanks for clarifying those operations mlampert! I added pocketing for the Pickout I will need to insert into the ...

Re: Tool Selection?

I'm really excited by the response here. I see impressive progress, and I'm looking forward to actively working with Path-Workbench. Although I'm not a developer, I will do my best to contribute feedback to hopefully help with evaluating software fixes/improvements. My coworker, Scott, has begun wor...

Re: Tool Selection?

Thanks for the help. I'll reread this carefully Monday, but sounds like you've provided options for the pocketing operation, so I may need to redefine my job--to cut over holes, verses clearing around them... Gene--on that picture, there are two pockets in white delrin, faced at 12mm. Each of two po...

Re: Tool Selection?

Thanks Gene. I updated Freecad yesterday--will keep updated frequently going forward. I'm unclear on pocketing if you mean clearing the hole, or the different behavior in two identical pockets. In latter case, the cut is incorrect. I do get that though I say identical, the two pockets might differ f...

Re: Tool Selection?

Hi Herb,
I used LinuxCNC as the post processor. My guess is I'm veering away from intended use somehow.
Thanks,
Josh
