Re: [Solved] normalAt attribute

I'm really not sure, but am very curious too. The two examples you give differ slightly--Edge shifts from a line to a curve when you use 3 BSpline to Loft as well. It's a guess, but I suspect that the method you used to create the two lines differs from the way the Loft function creates any lines--c...

Re: having trouble sectioning a toroid

I wondered that too,so I increased radius beyond surface. Thanks so much for thoughtful response. I’ll check your suggestion when I get home.
Best,
Josh

Re: [Solved] normalAt attribute

All three edges report Curve as BSpline Object. The LastParameter - FirstParameter doesn't equal the Edge.Length in one case. The Degree of that Curve reports 1L, where the other two report 3L. There should be a way to distinguish when the ParameterRange uses Length, and when it uses a Float, but I'...

Re: normalAt attribute

Hi guys, Thanks I see. My base for the loft is 2 BSplines, so the parameter is probably mm . In this case, the loft is performed by using straight Edges if I understood the documentation. So the parameter for it is Unitless [0,1] >>> mysurf.Edges[0].LastParameter <<< BSpline, mm 134.17962592679288 ...

having trouble sectioning a toroid

I am trying to make a Solid from the Top section of an angled toroid from within a script. In the script, I: 1. Generate a Circle aligned to the center of the toroid. 2. Discretize the circle, and generate an inner and outer normal. 3. Make BSplines of inner/outer normals. 4. Make a RuledSurface bet...

Re: normalAt attribute

I managed to obtain what I want. However there is one interesting stuff, that I don't understand. In valueAt(u,v) u varies between 0 and the total length of my Edge[0], meaning that it's in mm. u=[0, myLoft.Edges[0].Length] I made it vary between [0,1] by normalization by myLoft.Edges[0].Length How...

Re: 3d milling algo

I've pushed this a bit further, and mostly good results. I still need to implement a Cut Tool to eliminate contentions including overshadowing Job19.png and faces cutting into other faces. I am a bit perplexed about where I'm going wrong in generating an offset face for a Cone. Job20.png The general...

Re: 3d milling algo

I tried preliminary work adding in Cones. It looks hopeful, though it highlights an area I have a bug, not parsing through all faces when a single input-face is split when selecting the millable portion. This also shows why this will ultimately need some better degree of targeting, or correction of ...

Re: 3d milling algo

I fixed the bug I had where extraneous faces were processed. Dumb things still get me because I'm new to Python. Job17.png This cuts the time down. I will still need to figure out how to step up the surfacing pass that is now in place. Does it even makes sense to bother since roughing can be used to...

Re: 3d milling algo

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I pushed forward today and mostly fixed those extra face issues. I still see an extra section generated on the upper fillet, but it's on the outside at least. I still need to run that down. Job16.png @mlampert,I'd take any advice from you. I don't know anything abo...
