Re: Assembly 4 workbench

...ping I have a complex assembly that I would like to animate https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=48473&start=50#p439330. As you can see it is easily animated when all moving parts are in the same file. OK so you convinced me that it is better to put some parts in sub-assemblies when...

Re: Assembly 4 workbench

Should I edit the parts LCS so that they are offsetted for parts to mate or should I offset stuff in assembly? I usually try to set the LCS in the exact position where I want the bodies to mate as Zolko suggests. I use the body link attachment offset after assembly for minor adjustment such as addi...

Probably adding the file and version info helps...
If you want anyone to look at your file you have to include all of the files linked in the assembly.

Re: measure linear - from datum, origin?

Is it possible to measure linear distance between origin point (and/or datum axis) and face of a solid body? Yes. If in PartDesign: make sure body is active, add datum vertex to body origin then use Part > linear measure. BTW you can add the Part Measure tools to the PartDesign toolbars which an be...

Re: V0.19 Top Down Assembly Design Using Assembly4--Update #9 Sterling Helicopter Animation

This is an example of using simple sketches and expressions as assembly solvers to animate a more complex mechanism. The model was built from plans designed by Ed van den Berg of the Netherlands (see details at http://zeamon.com/wordpress/?p=733). The challenge in this model is to animate all the mo...

Re: Assembly 4 workbench

I'm curious if it's possible to do a top-down design process while also breaking the assembly into multiple files? Yes it is. The process is explained quite well in zolko's Assembly4 user instructions and his technical manual. https://github.com/Zolko-123/FreeCAD_Assembly4 See also an example here:...

Re: Assembly 4 workbench--Organizing the Model Tree

Please see attached for the Parts and Model trees. I think that this feature to have assemblies in 1 file is a very great strength of FreeCAD, something that no other CAD system provides... But I think this should be used for moderately complex assemblies only, those that have only 1 level of hiera...

Re: Assembly 4 workbench--Organizing the Model Tree

t's an oversight. Could you please give more details about the organisation of your tree ? Here it is so far. Such as it is. And, I have all the fasteners to add... Picture1.jpg You're probably beginning to hit the feasibility/usability of large assemblies in 1 file. Aren't you using groups of part...

Re: Assembly 4 workbench--Organizing the Model Tree

ping... I have a large number of body links in the Model tree and would like to organize these into several folders. All of the bodies are in the same file in the Part folder. However, when the links are in several folders the links and LCS's are no longer visible in the "Insert a link..." and the ...
