Re: V0.19: Clayton Steam Wagon--work in process

Nice to see you testing carbon copy intensively. Let me know if it fails somewhere or if you see how it can be improved. In this proposed work process, I invariably turn all of the geometry of the CarbonCopy master sketch to construction geometry so that the new feature geometry or the start of the...

V0.19: Clayton Steam Wagon--UPDATE #4

I have started this project to test the stability of V0.19 and to practice some new techniques introduced in V0.18 sketcher. This model is being created from drawings by J.A.M De Waal (http://www.vapeuretmodelesavapeur.com/telechargements5/clayton-undertype-4ft.pdf) of a 1/6 scale originally designe...

Re: polar detent to lock rotation at discrete values aka Hirth Joint

Here is one way to construct the hirth according to the previously posted video. Should be self-explanatory: hirth.png formulae.JPG hirth_geometry.FCStd OS: Windows 10 Word size of OS: 64-bit Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit Version: 0.18.16110 (Git) Build type: Release Branch: (HEAD detached at upstrea...

Re: polar detent to lock rotation at discrete values aka Hirth Joint

Looks much better but not quite there yet.

It is sometimes helpful to review how they are manufactured (starts at 3:00):

Re: Help with Workflow/Techniques for Designing Assemblies

I also looked at some complex assembly models from the user showcase... When working with both Fusion360 and Onshape I was able to fluidly model new components with other components, in context. All of the assembly models on the user showcase created by me using PartDesign workbench were by 'design...
