Re: GT2, GT3 and GT5 Timing Gear Creator

Anyway, I think we need to do some more research on this kind of gears to get them right. Yes, here is a start: https://law.resource.org/pub/in/bis/S01/is.11507.2009.pdf But the corresponding ISO Standard seems to be retracted. The following document provides on page 36 a list of standards for belt...

Re: GT2, GT3 and GT5 Timing Gear Creator

the basic shapes of gt2, gt3, gt5 are now available from the gear-workbench. I used the geometry from the sketch, but I am still not sure if this is the correct way. I tried to understand the how these belts and corresponding pulleys are defined. I think, there is a need to a clear naming of the ap...

Re: what is the correct way to import .FCStd part into assembly

Id their away without using the Gui.activateWorkbench("A2plusWorkbench")? As the A2plusWorkbench is written in python, you have to read its code. Try to find the commands, which you run from the Gui and analyze its content. You can than try to use the called functions directly from your script. It ...

Re: Extraction of Hole feature properties

I still don't understand, completely, how it works, but working on it. The script uses heavily the shape properties and attributes available in FreeCAD. Here is a short overview of its nested structure, which is used in the script. Shape / \ Faces[0], Faces[1]... / \ Wires[0], Wires[1] (outer face ...

Re: Extraction of Hole feature properties

Here is the next iteration of the iterative hole search. The posted macro delivers now position and depths of counterbore holes as requested in this thread. See the definition of counterbore here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Countersink.

A spreadsheet is created with the bore data.

Re: Finding the x-most or y-most point of a Shape, but generalized to any direction

I would try to rotate your shape, so that your directions points for example in the x-axis. Then you can use the bounding box and get the length in x-direction as solution. Checking each vertex of the shape may not give a correct solution. Arcs have only vertexes on the end points for example, but t...

Re: WB Sheet metal - perforation and unfolding

it does not unfold the folds at 60 ° I am using in the unfolder script a somewhat simple method to detect the end of a sheetmetal part. The detection method just looks if the vertexes of the face are laying in plane with the other side of the sheetmetal. The combination of this angle and the bendin...

Re: Is there a way to change the order of Spreadsheet objects in a document?

I've never heard of folders. Can you point me in a direction to learn about them? There do exists "folders" where objects of the object tree can be put it. They are available with a right-click on the document in the tree-view under "create group ...". You can drag and drop the spreadsheets into th...

Re: Extraction of Hole feature properties

I was a little confused, because I could not find such countersinking holes in the posted testpart. Anyway, I adapted my code to detect these. The code works as follows: It starts analyzing a face of the selected shape. Currently the starting face is always Face1. The code takes the Wires property o...

Re: inverted faces

2 edges give two inverted faces each other. How to explain that? Each face of OCCT has an inner and an outer side. In case of a solid you should see only the outer side. But if the object is not a solid, you can see both. OCCT uses some internal logic to decide, which side of a created object is in...
