Re: Another approach to assembly solver (A2plus)

Hmmm... You should probably do something to deal with that. As far as I know FreeCAD file keeps all its elements in the same file, no need for separation. For large projects I agree that it makes sense to have every part in its file and have sub-assemblies as well, but having that restriction sounds...

Re: Another approach to assembly solver (A2plus)

Since I can't assemble anything yet, started playing around with the Assembly-Platform-6DOF file you attached a while ago. I see the resolver doesn't really resolve automatically for every change, but only when I press the rubics-cube button, regardless if I change the auto-resolve mode. Should it b...

Re: Another approach to assembly solver (A2plus)

I think I'm missing something very trivial... I've created a simple rectangular part, copy&paste it to have a second one. Moved the second part aside and want to connect them. Selected 2 planes that face each other, press the planeCoincident button and get the "Constraints inconsistent. Cannot solve...

Re: Another approach to assembly solver (A2plus)

2) when creating a constraint always select as first the reference object and then the object that must be moved. Everytime You ignore the point n.2 You break the optimized calculation chain, after that the solver comes back to previous "all together" behavior. Hello Turro, Didn't read to the end o...

Re: Assembly3 preview

At the moment, there is LinkArray, and LinkPathArray in Draft workbench that can do these things. These two features are added early before I started working on asm3, as a demonstration of how to use Link in Python. they still create shapes in the background for compatibility with Draft array, so t...

Re: Assembly3 preview

ping Can you please explain how did you add the cubes to the assembly? You have the Cube file, but the "Test Cube" in the assembly parts is not a link... Did you redraw the cubes in the assembly file as well? I have a need for similar scenario as well, but can't find a "normal" way to do it. I thou...

Re: Assembly3 preview

I am assuming the user knows what he is doing. This is a very wrong assumption! The file I attached before creates exception, that means the code is too error prone and doesn't check some corner cases. Fact is that I didn't do anything special in purpose, just was playing around with the buttons an...

Re: Assembly3 preview

Another few strange things to report. Attaching the file I'm using. I've created an assembly, imported 2 STEP files, moved the imported bodies to the Parts folder. Added 2 plane coincidents in hope to place the smaller part into the channel. Pressing on the Solve button I get that error, what does t...

Re: Assembly3 preview

Hi guys. First of all my biggest appreciations to @realthunder for the great work! I'm following FreeCad development for several years, but had to wander to other solutions (mostly OnShape) since the assembly is THE workbench I need and it was in a very premature shape. Hope your A3 work will get in...
