Re: Pocket within pocket

Re: Pocket within pocket

It would be nice if this in-app tree could indicate the true structure of the document... There is now DAG view available in the current 0.17 development version. You can open image in new tab/window to see it full size. DAGview.png Mark OS: Kubuntu 14.04.4 LTS Word size of OS: 64-bit Word size of ...

Re: How does one make an object whos dimmensions are based on a set of holes?

OK, here is the thing... you can not make holes into nothing . That is to say, you must have a solid first in order to make a hole in it. Now to that end, you can first make several sketches, one for the holes you want to make and then another closed sketch around them to fit, Pad the one to fit fir...

Re: understanding part design next -failed revolve

I see Normand answered while I was typing... when i try to revolve the shape in the file, I get "failed to validate broken face". The answer to this is easy, the sketch is not closed and as a result can only make a shell, and Part Design, next or not is only geared to create solids. Part will revolv...

Re: Pocket within pocket

Amazing. Thank you ever so much. I just went through the steps again trying to understand where I went wrong and this time it worked! Are you saying that when creating the second pocket, I must have had the Pad selected in the tree to the left and not the first Pocket? Was that the mistake? Your we...

Re: Pocket within pocket

OK, you must of misunderstood something in that video because he builds each new feature on the last and not some feature from further back in the models history. Looking at your model, I can now say for sure that it is forked, or containing 2 branches of history. Part design parts should usually on...

Re: Converting Lines to Wire to Face...

I found the problem, Line044, which for whatever reason was not wanting to play nice with the others Mark, there's a tiny gap between Line043 and Line044. I just traced over the line segments with a Draft WB > DWire, using Endpoint Snap (only), starting at the upper right going anti-clockwise so th...

Re: Converting Lines to Wire to Face...

Hi Bill. First, I have to say... DXF - pfffffft. Anyway, since that is what you have to work with, I'll tell you what I did to get the shape in question into a wire. First I built up the wire from a few edges at a time until I found the problem, Line044, which for whatever reason was not want...

Re: Pocket within pocket

Hello sharevari, Welcome to FreeCAD and the forum. You have both Pocket, (now past history in the linear time line) and Pocket001,(current history) both visible. and while I can't tell for sure, because you did not attach your file of the problem to your post, the model is probably forked, meaning i...
