Re: FreeCAD reached 98,000 downloads on SF in January

No, I don't know whether PPAs are included. Probably not. Luckily launchpad is nice enough to tell about PPA access: https://launchpad.net/+apidoc/devel.html#binary_package_release_download_count I wrote a small script to query this information and produce nice graphs and totals. Download graphs for...

Re: FreeCAD reached 98,000 downloads on SF in January

Its Google Trends: http://www.google.com/trends/

It is based (I guess) on the frequency of search queries, so the Linux users are included.

Re: FreeCAD reached 98,000 downloads on SF in January

@cox: What I find much more interesting is to compare that graph to other CAD tools:

Of course FreeCAD is way down there, but compared to the big players who decline or plateau, it shows rapid growth.

Re: FreeCAD reached 98,000 downloads on SF in January

The relatively low Linux numbers are probably due to the fact, that most users get their software through the package manager. The size of this userbase is difficult to determine, but an estimate can be found from the popularity contest of ubuntu and debian: https://qa.debian.org/popcon.php?package=...

Re: Question to Python, sorted()

Hi, what I meant was that with the key function that ulrich suggested, upper and lower case variations of the same word are equal, i.e. it can not be decided which should come earlier in the sorted sequence. In this case python uses the one that is earlier in the input sequence ("stable" sort), just...

Re: Question to Python, sorted()

@ulrich: But in this case "File1" and "file1" are considered equal, therefore, as Pythons sort is stable, the sorted order depends on the input order. @bernd: If you have a full specification how your filemanager sorts, then one can write a key or cmp function that gives this order, and supply it to...

Re: Release discussion 0.15

Hi, first of all I think that this post is not appropriate in the release discussion thread, maybe a mod could split this into a separate thread. Second of all, IMHO ranting is not a nice, nor an particularly effective way to try to change things. Especially if it isn't accompanied by any form of en...
