Re: BOLTS Open Library of Technical Specifications

I managed to fix 5), and add 6) in the latest development snapshot.

7) is probably related to the model file, as at least on my system the profiles with one, two and three slots do not cause this message.

Re: BOLTS Open Library of Technical Specifications

Hi, 1) Thanks for the pointer. It came up a few times, and it is noted somewhere, but now I have put it on the front page. 2) The git repository contains all the data and development scripts that are used to create all the distributions and the website. In this case git is used as a tool in developi...

Re: BOLTS Open Library of Technical Specifications

I made it more explicit in the Readme file that the webpage should be the first visit. Thank you for your feedback.

I had implicitly assumed that people would know that the repo is not the main source of information. But for many software projects thats the case nowadays.

Find freecad module path for embedding

Hi, I want to work with FreeCAD in a python script, like described here: http://freecadweb.org/wiki/index.php?title=Embedding_FreeCAD In the example there the path for the freecad directory is hardcoded. Is there a way of discovering this path in a somewhat portable way? Or a list of standard instal...

Re: BOLTS Open Library of Technical Specifications

Thank you for trying it. You confirm that my biggest fear, that I fail to communicate clearly what BOLTS is and does, is not unfounded. If you have suggestions how to improve that, I am thankful. What is on GitHub is mostly for the developer or for people who want to add parts. The contents of the o...

Re: BOLTS Open Library of Technical Specifications

To finish this up, the discussion about python 2.6 compatibility had continued on GitHub and we successfully figured out all the problems already a while ago, so that BOLTS for FreeCAD should run now with python 2.6. At least the most current development snapshot. In the meantime I have been busy wo...

Re: BOLTS Open Library of Technical Specifications

Just tried BOLTS which looks a great idea. On import BOLTS I get Traceback (most recent call last): File "<input>", line 1, in <module> File "/media/Drive D/Shared/FreeCAD/testmacro/BOLTS/__init__.py", line 20, in <module> from bolttools import blt_parser File "/media/Drive D/Shared/FreeCAD/testmac...

Re: BOLTS Open Library of Technical Specifications

Turns out I needed to install the python-yaml package. Might be a good idea to add this info to your documentation. I did that, thanks for the hint. This is the kind of stuff you miss. Have you consider renaming your project form BOLTS to PARTS? I like the recursive acronym: BOLTS is a Open Library...

Re: Asking for wiki edit permission

Hi,

I wanted to ask whether I could get Wiki permissions to add a macro description page for BOLTS? Mail settings are set to accept all mail.

Greetings
