Re: Introduction and Bearing Creator Tool

Hi javier and all, thank you very much for this very nice macro. I just tried to adapt it for use with BOLTS (see viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4549), to see what I need to do to make it work. It went relatively flawless: * I put the code in a function, added some parameter unpacking code and grouped all shap...

Re: BOLTS Open Library of Technical Specifications

Thank you for testing! The heavy triangulation is due to the fact that I build the hexagonal head as a union of three boxes (CSG). I did it this way, because I could more or less literally translate what I had done for OpenSCAD. I became now aware of the screw maker macro http://forum.freecadweb.org...

Re: Starting parts

Great stuff! A standard library is badly needed! With cross CAD you mean STEP? With cross CAD I want to express the fact that I want to establish a common base of data (dimensions, metadata, ...) that is not application specific, so that it is possible to use that data from different applicatons (r...

Re: BOLTS Open Library of Technical Specifications

Hello, I just tried it, what python package is needed for blt_parser? Can't find it. (Ubuntu 13.04) Thank you for trying it out. blt_parser is a custom module that should be included in the tarball. I forgot to put that file into the distribution and failed to detect that when I tested. I will fix ...

Re: Introduction and Bearing Creator Tool

I am working on something very similar in spirit (a cross-CAD standard parts repository), I have created a thread on it here:

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4549

There might be interesting overlaps with your work here, I have to look at it in detail.

Greetings

Re: Starting parts

I have created a thread about an attempt for a cross-CAD standard parts librarry that I am working on here:

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4549

It is very much in the spirit of your screw maker script. I have to look into it in more detail, but it looks promising.

Re: Parts Repository

Hey,

I have been working on something that might turn into a standard parts repository at some point. I opened a thread about it here:

BOLTS Open Library of Technical Specifications

Hi everybody, this is going to be a rather long post, so here is tl;dr summary: I am working on a cross-CAD standard parts library called BOLTS. It is already somewhat useable, and you are cordially invited to join the discussion to make it better. http://www.bolts-library.org/en/index.html Although...
