Re: (Bug) Failure exporting Wavefront OBJ with Python 3

The error has been fixed a week ago in https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/commit/aaea6420adc779b98e59d94f5e5050cc0dcfeef1 and backported to 0.18, but I guess that was too late for the current 0.18.1 package. As for the support of Std Parts, indeed many areas of FreeCAD still lack support for it. I'...

Re: Help with TechDraw

My first post here. I've previously worked primarily in 2D ACAD, and just started a project with FreeCAD - amazing software BTW. I've learned a lot via the forums and videos, but have one thing that I can't seem to get past. I'm doing a simple basement plan, and wanted to pull the views into TechDr...

Re: Drawing+DD vs TD

I can't fix "too many key shortcoming and bugs". If you tell me "the arrowheads are wrong. they should be open instead of filled", then, that, I can fix. Did you read the thread where SamoZ wrote his opinions? He provides some concrete examples of what he thinks should be improved. This thread desc...

Re: Cabinet furniture design tools workbench

Sketchup has, from a user perspective, an easy and very intuitive way a woodworker can assembly his furniture model. That's a very subjective opinion. It may not be as intuitive for other people with a different background from your own. The problem with their approach is just that it is not parame...

Re: Bug/Showstopper: Part's Coordinates implementation Errors, different calculation of visulization and functions(Bug).

Ok, accepted, I'm sorry. :( What may be important are the concepts: - Nesting of Coordinate systems - Deriving offsets from the higherlevel Coordinate system - Assingning another Coordinate Systems(locked to another one) - Offseting from another coordinate system ( this = other +[X Y Z]) What do yo...

Re: Cabinet furniture design tools workbench

Yes! If that's a possibility, I think we should maybe give it a try. I've been trying extensively to use FreeCAD for modeling furniture and it has been a hard work. It is annoying to not be able to find ways to easy my tasks to achieve this in FreeCAD. ... It has been a really tough task. So I beli...

Re: QT-Dialog convert to python

... Where can I get it / What is to do? ... How experienced are you at using Python, Qt, compiling from source, and software development in general? That page is pretty old, so the information is outdated. The last major change, that was not about typos and translations, occurred in 2016. Since the...

Re: Visualise dimensions and constraints

... You have used Constraints in your Sketches to define the geometry in the model, so (depending on how thoroughly you've used those Constraints) the model should be a bit more realistic than an artist's conception. You don't have dimensions on a 2D page because you haven't created that from the 3...

Re: Community Extras PPA Announcement & Support Thread: IfcOpenShell, Gmsh 4, freecad-doc translations & more!

I've just uploaded OpenFOAM 1812 - please give it a try! By the way, I have seen no mention of this, but I think the Gmsh 4.0.2 package is broken. It is not compiled against OpenCascade so it basically doesn't work. aptitude show libgmsh4.0 Depends: libann0, libblas3 | libblas.so.3, libc6 (>= 2.15)...

Re: Release of 0.18

Woohoo! We did it! After some rest it would be good to regroup and consider some of the things we've learned from this release that could make the next one easier. I read this and what immediately came to mind was the discussions surrounding the eventual future release of Python 4, hoping to not re...
